Simon Cowell has denied Dannii Minogue will be replaced on the next season of The X Factor.

Responding to rumours the Australian judge would be replaced by a young guy, Simon said: "No, I am not going to replace her with a guy, no. As far as I am concerned I think everyone is coming back you know."

But he did claim there was a bit of tension between Dannii and fellow female judge Cheryl Cole.

"I don't think they're gonna be going out for dinner in a hurry, but it doesn't matter, you know, they're there to do a job, they are very competitive with each other and I like that," he said.

And The Xtra Factor presenter Holly Willoughby will also be returning next year, according to Simon.

"She phoned me up actually and said 'I've got some fantastic news' and I thought it was about me and she said 'I'm pregnant' - great. The first thing I asked was when is the baby due? Can you come back next year? May I think it's due, she'll definitely come back next year so we're all happy," he said.

As for this series, viewers have a live performance from Britney Spears to look forward to.

"The fact we've got her on the show and it's her first performance in... two years is fantastic, being Britney she is going to put on a show," said Simon.

Interesting how theres no mention of Dermot. Then again they didn't really have to ask because his future hasn't had a massive question mark over it like the rest have. But maybe Simon will push for ITV to replace him ...

I think a female presenter is always better for this kind of show because they are generally warmer and more emotionally involved, and they can dress for the occasion as well in accordance with the themes which makes each show seem different. Smaller things make a big difference.

That said, as much as I really like her I hope they don't promote Holly, she doesn't seem suited to that kind of presenting (DOI).

I think XF wanted to try a male presenter seeing as Ryan Seacrest is a big hit over in American Idol and they wanted to see what it'd be like with a male presenter over here, and I think it has backfired on them. I'm not saying Dermot is rubbish but he really doesn't suit hosting a show such as XF and like you said the female presenters are more emotionally involved which makes it more interesting. I hope they bring back Kate for next year, or if not her another female presenter but preferably not someone like Holly Willoughby, Fearne Cotton, Caroline Flack as I don't think they'd suit hosing the main shows.

I don't really get why people dislike Dermot (but then I don't understand why people dislike Davina McCall either) because I think he has a great sense of humour, has more personality than Kate ever did, and does his job very well, but that's just me...

I was hoping we'd maybe lose Louis for good, but oh well, I can cope with him being on the X Factor again.

does holly willoughby's voice when she's interviewing people annoy anyone else? or am i the only one? it really bugged me on the xtra factor when austin whe was voted off and she just seemed so smiley and cheery, almost patronizing.

If I'm being honest, I thought Dermot was more suited to BB..............but this is a big, big money spinner, and let's face it, a bit of criticism in the press is nothing to the pay cheques they all pick up. A bit suprised that louis wants to go through it again, mind.............
