Jungle turmoil

Jimmy Pursey has pulled out of 'I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here' less than a week before it is scheduled to start, leaving bosses in a panic.

The former Sham 69 singer has decided not to go into the jungle after learning he was scheduled to be a late entrant

Pursey, 53 - who reportedly feared he was being stereotyped as a "trouble-making punk" - confirmed he had pulled out, saying: "I have decided not to go."

His spokesperson said: "Jimmy had already decided how he was going to spend his time in camp and it would have worked out well for the viewers.

"He wasn't out to cause anarchy, just good, tongue-in-cheek fun."

A show source admitted they were stunned by his decision.

The insider said: "It's taken us by surprise. We thought we had him in the bag and now he's quit days before."

Meanwhile, opera star Katherine Jenkins - who is also tipped to be a contestant on this year's programme - has revealed she is so terrified of germs and wears a surgical mask when she flies.

She admitted: "You feel daft but it can prevent you picking up anything nasty."

Other stars rumoured to be appearing on the show, which begins on ITV1 on November 16, include former 'EastEnders' actor Joe Swash, TV presenters Dani Behr and Esther Ranzen and chat show host Robert Killroy-Silk.
