Laura fans urge Ofcom inquiry
Quote:
Laura fans urge Ofcom inquiry 50,000 FUMING Laura White fans have demanded Ofcom investigate the voting procedures of The X Factor after she was given the boot on Saturday.
The angry viewers have signed two online petitions after odds-on favourite Laura was booted out of the reality contest last Saturday night - much to the surprise of contestants and fans alike.
Fans of the singer have already complained that they couldn't get through to vote to keep Laura in and are urging the media watchdog to investigate any potential wrongdoing.
Laura Reading, who put the petition online, said: "There must be an official inquiry in to what has gone on.
“X Factor takes the public’s money, but doesn’t reveal how many votes each artist received. Then, they try to gag young artists and stop them earning a living, because the producers make more money that way. It’s a disgrace."
But a spokeswoman from X Factor said: "There were absolutely no issues with the phone lines or the voting system which is subject to rigorous procedures and protocols.
"Our viewers vote for the act they want to keep in the competition and last Saturday, Laura White and Ruth Lorenzo received the least number of votes. There are no plans to bring Laura back to The X Factor."
