Big Brother race-hate row girl Jo O’Meara collapsed in a pool of blood after being glassed at a comeback gig.

She was performing on stage when a punter hurled the glass at her.

The singer fell to the floor as blood poured from a deep gash in her head. She had to be taken to hospital for treatment.

Jo, 29, was performing at the new Tokyo club in multi-racial Bradford, West Yorks, with S Club 3 – a slimmed-down version of her hit group S Club 7.

She had become a virtual recluse after the racist bullying of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, 33, in the Celebrity Big Brother house made her a national hate figure last year.

Now on the comeback trail, she and the group have played other club gigs without incident.

But the mood turned ugly when she stepped on stage in Bradford with Paul Cattermole, 31, and Bradley McIntosh, 27.

Scores of clubbers booed as they began to sing. And they had just started their fourth song, S Club Party, when Jo was struck on the head.

She staggered to the side of the stage before being taken to a hospital in the city.

A club source said: “Whoever booked her to appear in Bradford must be mad. The city is well known for its Asian community, which is still angry over her Big Brother antics.”

However, a 19-year-old man arrested at the scene denied targeting Jo, insisting it had been an “accident”. He was being quizzed by police yesterday.

Club owner Arron Mellor said: “We had the S Club Tour at our Oldham club. It sold out, so we rebooked them for Bradford.

“It was going really well until one individual spoiled the fun.

“Jo, Bradley and Paul are the nicest people and I will be booking them in for my other sites.”

S Club 3 said in a statement: “We were all having a great time until the incident happened. We would like to apologise to our fans that the set was cut short.”
