Default Big Brother could run for 30 years

Quote:
Big Brother could run for thirty years.

According to the Daily Star television chiefs are so happy with the success of this year's show that they believe the show could carry on for as long as thirty years.

They'd planned for next year's show to be the last. But now they think the ratings are too good to lose.

Talks are also under way for a third Celebrity Big Brother this winter.

A Channel 4 insider said: "If we told show makers Endemol we didn't want it any more, they be free to take it to ITV or C5."

"Who knows - we could be talking about how brilliant Big Brother 30 is in years to come."

BB5 pulled in an average audience of five million viewers.

Friday night's final drew nine million, second only to this year's Channel 4 record for the finale of Friends.

and if they do 9.... they will do 10.

And if they make it to 15... they could do a special by inviting the 14 winners back into the house for 10 weeks for a winners big brother.

Yeah, so will I Julia!!

I only hope they go out on a high and don't just keep going for the sake of it. Imagine if last year's was the last (although I actually enjoyed it! I know, I'm the only one!), that would be our last memory of BB!

This year's is going to take some beating, it's taken them 3 years to come up with the goods again after BB2 (which is still my favourite incidentally!). The tasks were brilliant, but I'm sure I wouldnt have enjoyed them much had I been in there!!

So will I I'd still watch the show The one thing I find since BB2 finished is that I have not rooted or felt close, if you like, to any of the housemates! I enjoyed this years show, it was very good, but I miss really rooting for people like I did in BB2!!

Thirty years! That would be cool as long as it was addictive like BB5, I must admit I never watched much of BB1-4 only every show of BB5!

Rock on Big Brother!

As has been said I do hope that they dont keep BB on past its sell by date. There's nothing worse that seeing a show get worse and because of the money raised it keeps getting pulled out each year. Just think of such programmes as Fawlty Towers, Friends and Sex and the City - all went out on a high and will be remembered for that.

Just think what people would remember of BB if they had finished last year - talk about going out on a low. And just think in 30 years time just what sort of housemates will they be having then - last year's and this have been very media orientated - but 25 years down the line they will probably all be sponsored by some drinks company and wearing advertising slogans on their clothes LOL.

Much as I have enjoyed the concept of this year's show as Amy said since BB2 I have not been able to really root for any housemate in particular. For me that was part of the 'charm' of BB2.

As for next year I would like the evilness to continue but this year try it out on a group like they had last year. Bet they wouldnt be so nice if subjected to a nasty BB.

Yeah I am glad it could continue but like all of you I dont want it to just slink out and no one rembers it I want it to go out on a high like BB2 and BB5 did, that way people would remember it.

I can't see BB running for 30 years. (29 years maybe )

Seriously next year could be the last. It will be make or break in the sense of can they find more stops to pull out in order to keep the entertainment momentum going. I doubt it very much.

Although I have ben entertained by the events of BB5 i have had very little incentive to vote this year. I have only cast three votes throughout the 10 weeks.

As some have pointed out BB needs to draw people to feel like rooting for housmates like in BB2. And not just the winners..

To keep BB alive for this year they have had to go to extremes when selecting the personalities along with BB's evil behavour.

They have been there done that got the tee shirt. Repeating the same theme next year in my oppinion won't be good enough. The public don't want repeats they want innovation...Something different next year...Can they deliver something different enough each year for the format to run 30 years!!! Never in a month of Sundays. Next year or perhaps the year after that will be the last I am sure.....

Just long enough for me to get up to 2000 posts..
