Default Celeb Jungle Crisis

Quote:
CELEB JUNGLE CRISIS
Bosses are holding crisis talks over the future of this series of I’m A Celebrity after killer storms forced the stars to abandon the jungle camp.

A state of emergency was declared last night in Queensland, where the ITV show is based, as
torrential rain and high winds struck.

The celebrities were forced to run for cover on higher ground as show chiefs ruled the site was too hazardous. And they have been forced to come up with alternative plans for the show in case the entire set ends up being washed away.

Thousands of homes have already been flooded in the region and at least two people are said to have died in the storms.

With more heavy rain forecast today, many TV insiders are worried that the show may become a total washout.

The entire site had to be rebuilt after storms destroyed it in January.

Now bosses fear the same thing could happen again in the middle of the series.

Producers have already had to make drastic changes to the format after five days of foul weather.

Bushtucker Trials supremo Chris Lore, 41, admitted: “We have been hit hard this year because of the weather.

“It’s probably the hardest we’ve ever been hit – we’ve been slammed.

“We had so much big stuff that we were due to launch the show with. But we had to reschedule because of the weather. With all the mud, there is no way we could do some of the trials.”

Fans have already seen the divided camp stunt abandoned early, because the Away camp was on the verge of flooding.

Bosses feared the celebs could be injured or even washed away.

A show spokeswoman said: “We always have contingency plans. The safety of the celebrities and our crew is the priority.

“If the camp floods completely, the celebrities will be taken out. But the show will not be cancelled.”
