And it hasn't been for about 5 years. New acts come out all the time who are supposed to be original, so much its now the norm.

OK Diana is original for X Factor, I'll give her that, but I see the phrase "Diana is unique", "there is noone like Diana out there" and "Diana is original" thrown about the forum that much, and its blatantly not true.

Totally true. Her voice is not the kind of thing we come to expect from talent contest but I dont think that is enough for her to be the big favourite that she clearly is.

The show is about Simon Cowell having his own version of Pop Idol/American Idol without having to pay millions to Simon Fuller for the rights to the idea.

Other than that itsa a singing contest and thus, the best singer should win it.

Its also about finding someone who will last, not a novelty singer people will get bored of

Not if Diana wins. Technically she's quite poor. Many predict she'll have constant throat problems because of her poor singing technique.

X Factor history doesn't show much luck at that. If Diana wins will it really be the end of the world? It seems that you guys really hate her or something - I'm not a huge fan of her myself but I think she's good to watch and listen to. I dont hate her I hate what she's done to this years show. I think its pretty obvious she's the golden child of this series. For the past few weeks she's put in sub standard performances - I'm including the week she didnt perform - but due to her popularity the judges and the public are unjustly praising her.

I feel sorry for the other acts becasue it doesnt seem to matter how good they are or how hard they try Diana will still go through and they'll end up in the bottom two.

I don't hate her, I just don't particularly like what shes become. She was my favourite in bootcamp but they're moulding her into something completely unrecognisable, and her style is much different now to what it was in earlier rounds.

lol another let's knock Diana thread. IMO she is unique, I will probably get jumped on for saying that, but that's my opinon, I like her voice and style, vocally Alex has a stronger voice, but I really like Diana's voice and the fact fact she is different and isn't someone who just belts it out.

In a word yes, but I perfer Diana more then Alex, I have said I would luv to see them two as the final two and either to win. Alex does have a stronger voice, but I luv Diana's voice too. Both are getting votes from me.

If you want someone with an "out there" style and an "original voice" then go for Alanis Morissette; Diana is not original in the music business. In terms of the X Factor, then yes absolutely, but beyond the winner's song, she's not going to be a success. Leon Jackson already looks like he's going the same way as Steve Brookstein, I actually think Same Difference could end up doing better than him.

There is a niche market for, in the UK, a boy band and a female rock singer (JLS and Ruth). There are very few females in the UK who can truly belt out songs anymore (Alexandra). We have countless indie bands/singers and we've got plenty of "heartthrobs" who, when their target audience grows up, aren't going to stick around. Diana and Eoghan will not last in the music industry, I don't think, but I expect they will be the final two, which makes this year's competition even more of a travesty. The likes of Alexandra, Ruth and JLS ought to get themselves signed up to a record label who'll heavily promote them and allow them to create their own sound, because winning the X Factor is a poisoned chalice it seems. You might have won, but you won't be successful (unless you're Leona, of course).
