Okay, Blackout - amazing, In The Zone - loved it, but Circus - what the H*LL were Britney's producers thinking? This was such a disappointment. I was so looking forward to it and am so disappointed. If any not-yet-established singer tried to release this crap as a demo it would soon end up in the trash. It's better than most of the music out there but compared to Britney's usually high standards this is just awful.
Alright, Circus: basically a much worse retelling of Freakshow. So Britney is in the ring and everyone's watching her just like a circus? Wow. Considering Britney doesn't write her own songs you'd sure think she could have better lyrics. Out From Under, Kill the Lights: Boring, repetitive, didn't have much to offer. Shattered Glass: Like the other songs on this album, basically the same thing over and over and over and over and over again! Simple lyrics, overused concept, and nothing even poetic about it. If U Seek Amy: Hahahaha, yeah, you made it sound like **** Me. Excellent. There's our chorus. Now we'll just throw together some nonsensical, unrelated verses about looking for a girl named Amy and wala, we're done. Unusual You: Besides the fact that this song is basically the same melody over and over, with the same lyics over and over (like all the other songs), the concept is pretty interesting. A little misplaced after "If U Seek Amy" which had exactly the opposite message though. Blur: Yep, repetitive, but I did like the concept even if it wasn't executed so well. This song has no consistent flow and is too repetitive. Mmm Papi: Huh? You're hot, you're mommy, that makes me papi? This was a very strange song. Mannequin: Okay, what was this song even about? While it sounds great, the lyrics offer nothing. It's like someone was half asleep and just wrote whatever popped into his head no matter how random. The lyrics don't make any sense and there's no consistent theme. I get the thing about mannequins not having emotions, no screaming no crying, and how she's keeping that all bottled in - "I'm not doing that" "I don't care" - but the verses don't relate to this theme at all and quite frankly I'm not really sure what they're supposed to relate to. Lace and Leather: Oh, real classy Britney. I would have preferred Lace and Pleather. I don't know why Britney feels the need to victimize innocent cows in her pursuit of sexual excursions. What a freaking shame. I've been waiting so long for this album to come out and now that it has it's terrible! |
