Blubbery Brian Paddick close to tears again in the I\'m A Celebrity camp as he tries to make peace between Nicola and David
Quote:
Blubbery Brian Paddick close to tears again in the I'm A Celebrity camp as he tries to make peace between Nicola and David He used to be one of the most powerful policemen in the country but Brian Paddick has been reduced to whining about tasks and bursting into tears during his excruciating appearance on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.
The 50-year-old has become one of the most unpopular contestants on the show, infuriating viewers with his complaining and pettiness
Last night sparked a new low for Paddick when he was humiliatingly given a dressing down by Ex-Eastender Joe Swash, 26, who accused him of having no backbone.
‘Brian hasn’t the bottle to stand up and say anything….It’s embarrassing.
‘He’s the policeman here that ran for mayor and this is embarrassing that a 26-year-old boy had to stand up and speak for him. There’s no backbone there, ’ raged Swash after Paddick tried and failed to mediate between warring contestants Nicola McLean and David Van Day.
'Why are you so worried about upsetting us, why are you worried about upsetting them?' he told him.
’Because you have high morals you are worried about people you aren’t going to see again.
'Nicola’s hatred for David has passed through the group and transcended,’
‘I’ve stood up for myself and felt the rough of the gang. You’ve been through enough in your life Brian and seen enough prejudices to think that’s out of order, you put your status in the group before anything,’ Swash added.
Paddick' s behaviour has led to him falling out of favour with viewers - as well as his fellow campmates.
After a bush tucker trial in which all of the campmates were buried alive he proved to be quite the sore loser and bitterly claimed he was 'just seconds' away from winning, despite Esther Rantzen remaining in the coffin for more than two minutes after he quit.
And last night he accused Timmy Mallett of cheating after their pair went head to head in the first ever trial of its kind which saw the celebrity with the lowest score evicted.
Mallet grabbed at Paddick’s arm during the challenge which saw them compete to out-drink and out-eat each other and – despite coming out on top – Paddick was quick to condemn the his behaviour.
'Timmy was very unfair, see these marks here in my arm, it's out of order.
'The worm was wriggling about in the glass and Timmy was dragging it out when he suddenly grabbed my arm – that was a deliberate attempt to stop me chewing and to stop me swallowing.
'He has a calculating side to him that I didn't find pleasant so I'm not going to be crying on my pillow about the fact that Timmy's gone.'
Last week Paddick, who is entering into a civil partnership with his male partner in January, was mocked after breaking down in tears when speaking of his affection for former Blue singer Simon Webbe – who he has previously admitted to having a crush on.
‘I’m getting all emotional now. Simon we need more role models like you, we need more people like you getting the publicity so that young kids who don’t think they’ve got a chance can see there is a legitimate route to the top.’
The politician also complained that he felt left out because he was the only contestant in this year's show without a glamorous background.
'I have little in common with everybody because you're all showbiz people and stuff. I'm not an entertainer," he said.
'The public want humour, they want slapstick, they want entertainment. They don't want some bloke walking up and down with a bag full of wood.'
Paddick was in the running for a peerage before he entered the jungle but admitted that appearing on the reality show might scupper his chances.
Speaking ahead of the ITV1 reality show said he had topped a list of party candidates to be ennobled.
‘I’ve come top of that poll. I’m number one on the list to go into the Lords. It doesn’t mean anything though. The leader has free choice of the people on the list.
‘Having appeared in the jungle, he might decide that’s not compatible with being in the House of Lords.’
Perhaps a peerage isn't the only thing that Paddick risks losing when he leaves the jungle.
