i love both,but i prefer Leonas version.for these reasons;
1.on SP's version they change the chorus each time,Leona keeps the "louder,louder" each time.
2.Leona vocals sound much better on the song
3.the instrumemntal is much more modern
4.the EPICness of the final chorus when the gospel choir come in.

He vocals are beautiful don't get me wrong... but the song was made for Gary's voice... you cannot top him on that. He makes the song beautiful.. Leona makes it... leona'fied :P...

Not all of it. Most of them haven't done that well in the charts this year.
Not to mention, putting a bunch of unknown names in my sig would be kinda pointless because no-one would know who they are.

I'm not saying I don't listen to mainstream, I just don't SOLELY listen to it. I couldn't personally see how anyone could.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike people's narrow minded-ness when it comes to music as well. The fact that some people would only even listen to something which is in the top 20 on iTunes or on the radio 1 playlist is beyond me. I just equally dislike the other end of the spectrum where people seem to hate on mainstream sucessful artists for the sake of wanting to seem alternative and specialist. It comes across as pretentious (I'm not saying that's you by the way).

Oh no, I'm not purposely hating people because their successful, I love Katy Perry, she's had a great year, same with The Ting Tings. People like Leona though, I'm not a fan of, hate the music, can't stand her voice, no reason for me to like her.

I try to listen to a mixture, just on a site like this where everyone seems to revolve around the charts, it does get annoying, and I'm sure others agree, hence we need somewhere to discuss lesser known artists.

Not even alternative/rock/indie, there's unknown artists of ALL genres, anyone can come and discuss.

Its a beatiful uplifting song and both versions are sung brilliantly by world class artists.
However, unless there are exceptional circumstances I always give the benefit of doubt to the original, thats why I voted for Snow Patrol's version despite loving Leona's cover version.
