POP Idol duo SAM & MARK will host Top Of The Pops with FEARNE COTTON until January next year.

The singers went down well when they stood in for Fearne for the TOTP Saturday show while she was on holiday.

Beeb bosses have asked them to carry on beside her.

Sam and Mark told me: “It’s brilliant that we can do our music and co- present TOTP Saturday.”

Call my an old cynic . . . . . . . . but it seems to me that their singing career's going nowhere so they're trying to reinvent themselves as the new Ant & Dec.

Actually, I caught a bit of TOTP Saturday this morning and they were quite funny - stick to the presenting, lads - I think that's where your future lies.

I saw them on TOTP Saturday too and thought they were very good. With a bit of practice I think they could give Ant and Dec a run for their money. There was the same interaction between the two of them. Think the presenting line will be much better for them. No-one from last year's Pop Idol seems to have made it. What happened to Michelle?
