4) Its more publicity for Alexandra- people being anti-Alexandra will make other people be sure to buy her single
5) It isn't a moral triumph for music or anything else like that which people are claiming

EDIT: I bought both so...I'm not wanting Jeff to get to #1 out of spite or whatever I just think it deserves it more. I do love Alexandra's version but I think that she kind of makes the song powerful with the choir and all when thats not how it should be imo. I think Jeff sings it perfectly and is x10 better.

I think people trying to get Jeff Buckley to No.1 are incredibly selfish. Tbh, he has had his (hhh[]) day in music, Alexandra is just starting out and very beautifully talented and trying to ruin her chances of getting to No.1 are selfish and I think she deserves it more.

I didn't say that. But just because she covered the song dosen't mean that you have to be selfish and try to get someone who DIDN'T sing the original to number one. When she clearly has a better voice and didn't choose the song.

There is an alternative. If a song is made and the media gets behind it properly then there will definitely be a rival. Its just that noone has attempted anything on that scale before.

Partly that is the reason why some have started it. Some have said they want to buy the song to spite Simon Cowell, because he is responsible for a good song being ruined and it will damage his ego if Alexandra isn't number one blah blah blah.

A lot do know the original artist, you're right. But some people also claim that its the original, do a facebook search and you'll see that.

It may be anti-XF, but the more people want someone else to be Christmas number one, more people could buy Alexandra's single just to spite those people for spiting XF/Alexandra in the first place.

You'll see a lot of the people in the XF boards on DS. A lot of them think they're real music fans, and to be a real music fan you have to prefer originals over covers etc. Musical snobbery comes into play over acts coming from the talent show background as well.

It's hardly selfish when we (the people who download Jeff's over Alexandra's) will benefit in no way.

Whether or not Alexandra has a better voice is not "clear" at all. It's a matter of opinion, I personally far prefer Jeff's or say Diana's quieter more understated vocals to Alexandra's blatant oversinging and shouting the house down (I speaking generally not just about this song).
