Just on the music channel, lmao remember this?
That clip also uncovers her in the pink tshirt, who was like the original one before Diana, which doesn't make Diana original anymore because they're both similar |

hmm...i'm not sure that people branded her as "original" i think it was "unique" and she is! or THEY are unique! diana of course aint original cuz she didnt invent the style of music...but shes unique since its rare for people to have the same style of voice as those girls! |

I loved Pop Idol, it was a lot less serious back then. And it was more focussed on making real life people famous, not professionally trained undiscovered artists.
People like Leona and Laura have already made albums and had a bit of recognition, they have just used the X factor as that publicity they need... Pop Idol was about taking people from ordinary jobs and making them huge. It worked for a few of them, Will Young and Sam and Mark! |

I remember the girl in the pink shirt. She was the Diana of that year.

Oh sorry, I know who you mean now. Alex Parks? I thought you were talking about Sinead from the first series, who finished runner up.

And to think that those in Pop Idol were just normal people ... well I'd be very surprised if a lot of those hadn't had some kind of training or recording before, especially if Andy Scott Lee slipped through the net |

What I would enjoy would be the X factor talent with the personality of Pop Idol... X factors all a bit fake to me. I can imagine living in the x factor house... everyone pretending to like each other.

I found Pop Idol really boring though, I could never get into it or the first series of X Factor because it was all really plain. X Factor is about more than just the acts and the singing, Pop Idol wasn't. But if Pop Idol was still going, the standard would probably be about the same as now anyway.

X factor is rarely about the singing these days, its about getting viewers to watch, selling records and keeping the 'Cool X factor' image. If it was about the singing there wouldn't be miming, and the judges always want the show to be about them not the singing. Thats where the controversy comes in.
X factor is loosing its image of a Talent search to me personally, why would you hold a singing competition and then when you get a winner... make them mime on live TV? |

Fame Academy should return IMO. It had some great performers in it, as well as songwriters. I just loved it.

But thats not on the show (as you implied) and most mime on GMTV, they have to. I don't know why but they aren't allowed to have people singing live all the time. And the talent show miming came about way before X Factor- even back to Popstars.
