Another company down the swanny, is this another name to dissapear?
As we all know, Woolworths has gone, which is sad news but nobody really thought of it's knock on effect, it's partner EUK has now knocked out Zavvi, the retail music chain, and this is a big big story.
Zavvi is generally a cheap place to shop, but it knocks back to 'Music Zone' when they went under, and they never found a buyer, the music industry is losing it's power out of everything. Now only HMV stands on our streets for the foreseeable future, but even I've seen signs of them buckle. Their huge re-cruitment drive for temp staff this Christmas was nothing more than a mere poster in the wall, normally they have paper ads and jobcentre drives and even their website was out of service in that part.
We all say it and we're probably all sick of X-Factor, but I think it'll be Alexandra Burke that saves a lot of stores this Christmas. That precious 3.99 for that CD is invaluable.
Can the highstreet really afford another big loss like this? or is this a small loss compared to stores like BHS and Debenhams?
What companies do you think will struggle next year more than others? I think next year stores like Burtons and Principles will be close, but I see a major threat to JD Sports, unless they clean their act up I think they could be the big one to go next year.
