If I Ruled The World - Jon Tickle
Quote:
If I Ruled the World - Jon Tickle
By Roger Crow, PA Features
Jon Tickle, 30, became a household name after appearing in the fourth series of Big Brother in 2003. Although he was evicted by his housemates, he was voted back in by the British public.
Within days of leaving the house for good, he went back to work as a data strategy manager for Centrica. He’s now one of the experts on Sky One’s series, Brainiac: Science Abuse.
He is single and lives in Staines, Middlesex.
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR FIRST ACT AS RULER?
“I haven’t had a holiday in 18 months so it would be great to get away. Probably to an island with white sand where I would stay in a hut on stilts.”
WHO WOULD BE YOUR MOST TRUSTED ADVISER?
“It would be Stuart Butler who’s a good friend of mine from school, because I can always trust his opinion.”
WHOM WOULD YOU BANISH?
“Kevin from Liberty X. As a member of the public – and I still consider myself to be that despite Big Brother – before I met a load of celebrities I had the impression everyone would be awful and most of them aren’t, but I didn’t get on with Kevin.”
WOULD YOU BE A DICTATOR OR A BENEVOLENT LEADER?
“A benevolent leader. In my job you tend to have to micro-manage people. Maybe I could get Stuart to do the hard work and I’d be his advisor.”
WHOM WOULD YOU SINGLE OUT FOR A KNIGHTHOOD AND WHY?
“Professor Richard Dawkins who’s one of the Oxford elite. He’s very clear about getting across complicated scientific theories.”
WHOM WOULD YOU SEND TO THE TOWER OR PUT IN THE STOCKS?
“Simon Cowell just for crimes against music.”
WHICH LAW WOULD YOU ABOLISH?
“Motorway speed limits. I tend to do about two-and-a-half thousand miles a month and it would be so much easier if I could get where I needed to be faster”
WHAT LAW WOULD YOU INTRODUCE?
“It’s not so much a law. I work in the utility industry and it incenses me that we get half the gas and electricity from Europe and yet we can’t get a foothold in the German market because they’re supposed to have deregulated their industry and haven’t.”
WHICH BUILDING WOULD YOU DEMOLISH AND WHY?
“I like modern architecture but I don’t like the Nat West tower which is the one next to the ’gherkin’.”
WHICH RULER OR MONARCH DO YOU MOST ADMIRE OR HAVE MOST IN COMMON WITH?
“The Queen. I think she’s a brilliant diplomat.”
IF YOU COULD CHANGE THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FOR ANOTHER PIECE OF MUSIC, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
“It’s a difficult one this. It was going to be the Blue Danube, which was on a computer game I used to play called Elite. I suppose it would be Land of Hope and Glory because it’s good to sing along to.”
