Default Sneddon to back Darius at Scots festival

Quote:
FORMER Fame Academy winner David Sneddon is to relaunch his pop career at a Scots music festival.

Sneddon, who turned his back on pop music last year because he was sick of being famous, is one of a number of big names who are lined up to play Glasgow's Merchant City Music Festival 2004.

Scots chart-topper Darius and Insania star Peter Andre, up and coming singer Lucie Silvas, Lemonescent and The Record's192Big Break winners Acoustic Love Experience will be performing at the two-day event which takes place on September 25 and 26.

Darius will headline Glasgow's Merchant City Music Festival on September 26 with a performance on the Real Radio music stage.

Though he has tried to keep his involvement secret, Sneddon will be playing lower down the bill with his new band Sham. An insider said: 'The festival organisers are keeping quiet about David's involvement because he wants things to be relatively low key.

'But it is a tremendous coup for the organisers to bring David out of retirement. This could be the perfect opportunity to make a comeback on his own terms.' Sneddon's new six-piece band features long time songwriting partner and friend John Kielty.

They will release their first single Good Bye Baby on October 10, but it will only be available as a download on the internet. An album is in the pipeline right now.

The City Music Festival date will be Sneddon's first proper live show since quitting the pop business last year.

His debut song Stop Living The Lie topped the charts but his latter two singles failed to dent the Top 20. He promised to concentrate on songwriting and admitted he hoped to 'do a Gary Barlow' by writing for other artists in the wake of his chart successes.
