Default I\'ve got my first college interveiw..

Hi,
Today i got my first college interveiw and it just so happens to be from one of my first choices. I was wondering if anyone here on tibb could help me out and answer a few of my questions as no one in my family has recently gotten into college [i have no brothers/sisters etc...]. I wanted to know what kind of things they talk about and what questions they're most likley to ask etc.. and also do we go in a room by ourself or isit in a large hall where lots of students will be etc.. Thanks in advance for any help

Honestly don't worry about it, because there should be no reason why they would turn you away. Be polite, mature and you will be fine. They will just ask questions like, what you wanna do, they will want to see your grades and then if you are predicted over 5 GCSE's they will give you a conditional place.

Oh Christina I'm so thrilled for you, I hope it all goes well and someone more qualified than I can help you here.

I hav'nt been at college since the Roman Empire so no good me giving you any advice, just be yourself happy friendly and enthuiastic about the college and your chosen subjects.
Above all they will judge you on that, and not so much your well rehersed answers
at this stage they want to see students who WANT to be there, that makes everybodys job so much easier.

I do hope you get a place, its what I know you deserve and getting that will make me so happy too, all the best my girl I know you can do it.

Don't worry! I had mine in January and it was really easy. They shouldn't be too difficult for you if you're passionate about your course or what ever. They'll probably give you guides and stuff to help you understand more about it. I don't know if they'll do this for you, but they made us all take a Maths and English test on the computers and the results are printed off after.

Haha! Don't worry, the average is like Level 1/Level 2. I got a Level 1 I think. It's really your ability to think on the spot. Ohh and I just saw your question about where they take you. Mine was in a library, and they had a table for each interviewer and stuff. Because it's probably a different college it might be different though.

Also, i know you may not of taken photography but do you think i should take in a portfolio to show my work?

It's so much easier with a parent! My interviewer spoke to my mum more, so it kind of easened my nerves. But maybe if you asked to speak to him alone, you coould? Yeah, you should take one. On my letter it said 'students are encouraged to bring eportfolios'. It'll show the interviewer that you're passionate and ready to learn.

I did mine on enrolment day, I dont think its with anything about getting into the college, its just so they know which Key Skills level to place you at.

They'll probably give you guides and stuff to help you understand more about it. I don't know if they'll do this for you, but they made us all take a Maths and English test on the computers and the results are printed off after.
Oh noo anything but maths, id seriously not get in if i did lmao. Id pass on english as Im really good at that subject but maths Im like an E student lmao, no lie Ah well i know maths is important but to me english is more important as it was one of the courses i chose!
Lool ooh well thanks for letting me know. There bringing both my parents too.. as horrid as it sounds i dont really want them to be there when Im talking.. i feel that i talk better when alone tbh and my mum tends to take over a bit [even though shes just helping she actually never shuts up] lmao.
LMAO. Which Im not nah Im joking.. i enjoy the courses which ive taken so i am kinda passionate about them.. expecially photography, so ill bring one in. Thanks for everything Markus, youve been a great help
You're welcome! I hope it all goes well.
Ahh thanks i hope so too. Ill let you know how it went

Christina!!! It will be fine, do ypou remember how scared i was?? I did laugh in the interview at a not so funny question, but I got the place. As long as you smile and have decent grades, they will accept you.
