Default Camera Troubles

As it is the Christmas/New-Year season, a camera is very important and I have taken many pictures... I usually upload them by using a USB lead that connects into my digital camera then connects into the USB port in my Lappy. I woke up this morning in a mood to transfer these photographs from the camera to my lappy but nothing seems to be happening when I connect my camera and lappy to the lead, it usually begins uploading automatically.. but for some reason nothing is happening. Its quite frustrating because there is no obvious things I can do to mend it and as TiBB is full of bright young things I can assume someone on TiBB may have an idea that will help my Photograph uploading troubles...

Any ideas?

look in My Computer and see if it's recognising that your camera's attached to it, it might just be just that it isn't popping up asking what you want to do for some reason. If it's there double click it, if it's not it might be your USB, although I dunno why it would suddenly stop working

Go in to My Computer and see if you can find the Camera there.

Is the camera turned on when you plug into the USB port?

cameras sometimes have different ways of connecting that you may have played with in the cam setup. Eg connect using camera software versus connect just as a straight usb drive. Did you play with your camera settings and when you connect the cam via usb does the camera ask you how you'd like to connect?
