Okayy, ive always thought of myself as underweight. I am 16 years old and 48kg (about 7.5 stone) and I was thinking that is quite low for a 16 year old. All my friends are about 9-10 stone, and its a bit intimidating. I just took a BMI test and it looks like I am just the healthy weight for my height and age. But i dont know.
How soon until i put some weight on?? Anyone knowthe average weight in kg between the ages of 14-19 or something? |

Dont listen to anybody. Your light. So what? That can be a good thing. At 18 im only 9.5 stone. I get pissed easy, get stoned easy, get full easy, and I can slip into rock festivals through the gap in the bars.
Win! [Besides, sometime between your 18th and 22nd birthday your going to burst and get heavy at a rapid weight methinks!] |

If you eat the right food and do some exercise then you're the right weight. BMI is alright sometimes but some people just have fast metabolisms and are naturally skinny. Don't worry about it.

Your weight is fine, your still young and your body will change in few years. What you could do is change your diet (more fish, lean meats, pasta) and workout (weights, pushups)
If you want to put weight on thats best way, ask 30stone because he is into bodybuilding. Or just eat loads and drink loads |

Try lean meats, not cheap tho. Your still young and your body will change within next few years even if you dont workout.
Your body burns off calories at a high rate which is why your slim, thats a good thing because you dont want too much bodyfat if wanting to gain weight. What you could do is eat 6 small meals per day insted of the normal 3 meal thing. My ex is italian, love the food. |

Friuts are ok but wont put meat on your bones as they say, but yeah friuts are great for snacks, so when your hungry inbetween meals grab some friuts, also plenty of water.
For protein your best with lean fish, nuts but try get lean beef into your diet. You can also take protein milkshakes, and look for stuff like that (argos sell them) Protein, carbs, fats, vitimins... You need the right level for your age and body, you could join a gym because there you will have all the info you need with help from a trainer. 30stone knows alot more than me and should give you some good advice and tips. If you put your mind to it and set small easy goals then your already there. |

I'm 17 in 18 days time, 6"3 and 9 stone. Basically, when my medical checkup person next sees me, dhe's gonna have a fit.
I eat shitloads, but I'm a vegetarian (Which just makes everything more jolly) but yeh, just eat proteins (lean meats, nuts, lentils etc) and you'll be alright. You didn't look overly skinny on meet the members anyway |

Since the majority of Britons are overweight now, I think you should be happy. Perhaps even get a metal.

Id say if you put on a good half a stone - a full stone youd not feel underweight as if you do have changes in weight its quite noticable,
Its good that your getting exercise should keep that up but try to do a bit more on the weights than you do any running etc.. Also if your looking for things high in protein that aren't meat, you should try snacks like.. nuts, beans, egg whites (just take out the yolk) things like that. Red meat is always good for protein and general weight gaining but it has a lot of cholesterol, so keeping healthy but getting good protein chicken is great to have. and like andy said any protein drink would do well but are fairly expensive.. Me and my brother are always drinking these.. http://www.multipoweruk.com/SportsFo...uctSectionID=2 They are about 3 pound a bottle, but gives as much protein as 2 meals... so if you drink half at a time you can have 2 seperate meals in between your regular ones which is definately a big help for weight gain. When i was in year 11 i was only 7 and a half stone near the start of the year, Which was around 2 years ago when i started weightlifting... and now im 11 stone 10. and for about 6 months i gained nothing because i was doing high cardio workouts... So i gained a stone every 6 months ish for the last 2 years really. Also id like to say that my cousin is now 19 and he weights 9 stone.. and hes doing same as you just doing some pressups and weights every so often hes in good condition, nothing wrong at all with being lighter than others. |

Theres still time to fill out, you don't stop growing until youre 21 and its normally when youre about 17/18 that you do fill out properly and gain weight
As long as your BMI is inbetween 18.5 and 24.9 then you're fine and don't have to change. From the pictures you've posted anyway you wouldn't really be able to tell that you're lighter than most |

BMI is really unreliable, because it doesn't take into consideration muscle and water weight. And it's all about averages, a low/average BMI means nothing if you're not healthy. If you're naturally skinny, you're meant to be like that and healthy for your own body, so there's nothing to worry about
