Default Help, work issues!

Okay, as ya all know I work in Tesco yeh. Amazing it is, haha. Despite what people say... anyway, I work on Produce (posh word for fruit and veg) and I'm just a relief cashier...

Anyway, I got trained for checkouts about 3 weeks ago... was hard at first, now it's really easy. Anyway... I work 29.5 hours now atm (which is part time, full time is 36 hours+), but I've been speaking to the check-out manager on Facebook and she thinks that I'm really good with customers and since I've been on checkouts, just as a relief (they call when needed) I've had 4 customers say how well my excellent service was.. now I'm only down there half hour at a time, hour tops. Anyway again, speaking to the check-out manager she wants me to become a fulltime check-out Team Leader.

When she asked I was like "Wtf :S" and I said to her... surely there's more experienced people who have been on the check-outs for years who would want it? Then she said, I would hand pick you.

I am kinda putting her off that I want it, but heck, it's fulltime, more work but more money AND team leader is like £3 more than what I'm on now... I am really stuck what to do. It'd be amazing, but I don't think I'm ready for it, seeing as I only got trained 3 weeks ago.

I don't like this lol.

Go for it. If they didn't think you were ready, they wouldn't ask you! Even if you end up being rubbish (which you probably wont be), it's worth a shot.

I love my department and my manager man. It's all good... it's just more money for me at the end of the day seeing as I'm not in school or uni or anything.

Ross, if the customers like you, which they do, thats the main thing. Experience is important but I'd say customers count more. If they like you and you can talk to them etc, you should go for it. If this check out manager wants you to be a team leader and a check out person, you should listen to her. This is a chance for you to get more money!

I think you should go for it, she obviously thinks you can do it so she must know what shes talking about. Theres nothing better than being served nicley cos some people at checkouts just bung things in bas and only speak when there telling you how much money things are. And plus theres all that extra cash? Good luck Ross

Your Sig makes me soooo hungry
...but looking at his avatar makes me no longer hungry for the food in his signature.

Anyway, I think you should go for it. Take any chance you have, and since you're apparently good with people it sounds like it's just your job.

Once again Billy beats me to it

Hope the new job goes well for you Ross, in these times (or any) you have to look after yourself in the workplace first and foremost. Doing a job you CAN do, and have done is now a job you simply must take, don't forget this was offered to you not the other way round.

go for it the fact she is basically head hunting you is a incredibly good thing you're obviously really good at it and you can work on any weakness you have over time in the current climate you'd be daft to not do it

Go for it. Be confident.
She said she'd hand pick you - so you're doing something right. Have some confidence in your ability.

Congrats on the new job.
