This whole N word thing in society in general, is really becoming annoying. I mean, when its used in a malicious/insulting way, everyone knows it. Its obvious. I really dont get why only black people can say it. Its a word that was negative, and recycled into a term of empowerment. I use it all the time, and a lot of my white friends, back in the US, use it around me, with no harm or offense. O course they dont do it around everybody, knowing how people perceive it. And that just suckks. Like when we wanna say, something like: Thats my main man! Thats my dog/pal. A lot of times we say, thats my (N word). ANd I say it to my friends that are white as well. I really think everyone should say it if they feel, but its always obvious when its an insult. If its universallly used, it will not even be a racial slurr anymore. Which was the whole point of flipping its meaning!

yes this is getting ridiculous....i mean its used all the time in everyday life (in non-demeaning ways) so why cant it be used in a situation like this? there are differences of course.....if someone says to a close friend "whats up my N" i could see it as a term of endearment, meaning they are close to one another. its when someone says "look at that N over there" when it gets offensive and WAYYYY over the line.
Dont get me wrong, in no way am i defending racism because it is one of the worts things on this planet, but i agree things have went too far. Most people who are with the updated culture can realize the difference between a playful & a derogatory use of the word....its the prudes & a-holes of the world who cant see the difference, and they are also the ones who keep the debate going. i dont know, i dont want to fuel some big debate here, but thats my honest thoughts on the situation....its just getting too over the top imho. |

What a load of bullshit. Emily Parr didn't mean the N-Word in a racist context, yet she was ejected???
