'CBB sent me psycho,' says quit star CELEBRITY Big Brother quitter Mutya Buena has blasted bosses for pushing her towards a BREAKDOWN.
In a secret heart-to-heart with Ulrika Jonsson before she stormed out of the house Mutya warned: “If I end up in a psycho hospital at the end of this then I shall blame Big Brother.”
The footage was not broadcast— worried bosses, who vetted housemates for psychological stability before the show, are keen to avoid controversy following the Jade Goody race row in 2007.
Former Sugababe Mutya, 23, walked out of the house on Friday after seeing gobby Tina Malone evicted ahead of her.
Producers had been battling all week to keep the singer in as four female housemates faced the boot.
They knew she was struggling to sleep and was desperate to leave.
Mutya, who has a three-year-old girl Tahlia-Maya, saw doctors twice off screen as tension in the house and homesickness took their toll.
She had a medical scare on Tuesday after taking prescribed sleeping pills, although CBB chiefs have denied calling an ambulance.
At the time she reportedly said: “I’ve had a stronger tablet and it seems to be working the opposite.”
A show insider said: “Mutya became concerned after taking one and a doctor saw her for 90 minutes until she felt calm and treated.
“She had been too anxious and stressed to sleep properly in a room full of other people under the constant gaze of the cameras.”
Even during the tasks Mutya has struggled to keep her spirits up. Earlier in the week she moaned to LaToya Jackson: “I don’t think it’s been enough to take my mind off things. It’s time for me to go home.”
But as Shameless star Tina, 45, became the second star to be evicted, Mutya raged: “I’m not prepared to stay around. I’d prefer to go through the back door than go through that b*****ks (the waiting crowd) anyway.”
Referring to the male housemates, she went on: “They are irritating me. If I stay here any longer it’s gonna do my nut in.”
Housemates tried to talk her round, but Mutya added: “I’ve done well for two weeks. I’m not staying here another night. I want to wake up in my bed tomorrow morning. Other people here want to win. I don’t. I’ve not come here to get popularity. I’m not gonna miss anything.”
Mutya finally left just before midnight on Friday and will still collect her £60,000 pay cheque for the 15-day stint.
Coolio said he understood her decision. “I have respect for her. She couldn’t sleep here and it was getting on her nerves,” he said.
But Tommy Sheridan, 44, was the first to put the boot in. He said: “She became an appendage to Tina. She went everywhere with her.”
CBB chiefs have also had to defend some of Mutya’s controversial comments. The football fan joked that Chelsea fans dubbed rivals QPR “Queer People Running”—but the comment wasn’t aired.
Last night a CBB spokesman said: “We were aware of what Mutya said (about QPR fans), but she was not using the term herself, just stating a fact. The comment was not made when we were on air.
“Mutya told Big Brother that she’d made her mind up that if she wasn’t evicted she wanted to leave.”
