Default Did the secret service take a massive risk.

Whatching obama inauguration yesterday and given the massive impact of the first african american president is having around the world, why would the secret service allow obama to have a walkabout with millions of peolpe lineing the streets the risk for assassination was very high.
Just the other week they couldnt stop a man throwing shoes a president bush in a small room.
I think there should be some enquiry into why they let him stroll down the street.

from what i gather it was his choice although they can advise against it i think he must have final say
i'm sure he is fully aware of the risk towards himself and it wouldnt have been a decision made lightly i heard there was some 35 thousand military personnal alone there yesterday so god knows how many secret service etc there must have been
fair play to him i say

There would have been major security around the event and also all the top security departments in the US would have been working together to identify any threat so the risk would be dramatically reduced
It was a risk but if he were to be assassinated it would have been before the election

valids points however, who would of thought the most highly protected building in the the world,ie the pentagon could have been hit by a plane(alledgedly)?
Just for one second, just think, what would have happened if anything would have happened to him, thank god it didnt.
the thought is incomprehensible.

i'm still very much on the fence over the 'conspiracies' from 911 try not to think about it too much
yes it could have had dire consquences i'm sure i heard one news reporter compare obama to kenndey (that was who was assinated wasnt it? ) which seemed a tad bizarre
as i said though it cant have been a decision taken lightly (and i can just imagine his wife not agreeing with the decision but him saying look dear i'm the president )

A brave choice yes.But given the currant climate and all that i still think it was s stupid decission.
which will add more fuel to the fire that 9/11 was an inside job.

i do agree i was actually suprised when i saw him doing it on the news considering all the efforts put in to put up bullet proof glass etc plus there was so many people there surely they couldnt have searched them all could they?
he is always gonna be at risk cos of who he is etc but not only him but his whole family as well but then the security service etc are gonna be fully aware of this risk but yes i do think it was possibly a risk almost too far

He made the decision to have his walk about himself. Why should he have to be constantly surrounded by secret service agents and ask their permission to go to the toilet. He is after all a human being himself, if he is going to live in constant fear of the outside world, why be president at all. He is showing gerat courage and is showing that he is still not above those people who elected him as president.

Considering he is one of the most important leaders in the world it was a down right stupid and irresposible risk to take......Could be a sign of irresponsible leadership also.....Being a bravado is imature........If he continues with such a high risk life style he won't make it to the next US vote........
