Electronic Arts has unveiled plans to take the Need For Speed franchise in a new direction, with the announcement of three new titles for 2009.
Need For Speed: Shift, which will be developed by Slightly Mad Studios and released for the PS3, 360, PSP and PC, will see the series move away from street racing culture and place the emphasis on a realistic driving experience. EA marketing boss Keith Munro told Eurogamer: "The urban underground was a manifestation of style in some past Need for Speed games for sure, but Shift focuses less on these style cues and more on mirroring the driver experience, and what it really feels like to be behind the wheel." EA also unveiled Need For Speed: Nitro and Need For Speed: World Online, both of which will be aimed at a casual audience. Nitro, which will be developed by EA Montreal, will be exclusive to the DS and Wii and will feature "fresh unique visuals". "Need for Speed Nitro will not be a Mario Kart clone - Instead, we are evolving the arcade racer with a fresh and unique visual style that is very Need for Speed," said Munro. "What you'll see is that Nitro in no way resembles any other previous Need for Speed title." World Online will be part of EA's 'Play 4 Free' initiative and will be developed by Black Box, the team behind Need For Speed: Undercover. World Online's European launch will follow a trial in Asia. I think the street racing elements are good and I can see Shift becoming a Pro Street 2, they are chavvy elements but they're fun. Turning it into a clone of Gran Turismo will not bode well I think. The Wii one will either be more street racing focused or cartoony or both. This MMORG seems interesting, I'll be interested to know more.

You could buy the game 2nd hand.. Won't cost that much, the cops in the game are a nightmare, i just pull over so my fine aint too high, plus to gain cash to buy mods i just repeat a race in the arcade option and set it to easy with no traffic! Lol.. Best to build up a good car before doing missions.
What are the mods like in NFS: Undercover? Is there plenty? |

Um theres a few nothing is really done yourself everything comes as a set then you can fiddle with it.
as for visual.. there isnt a lot of choice... Not sure if you played need for speed underground 2, but that was the best for mods... visual and performance. HAving a bugatti you dont really need to add much lol, which is on undercover. |

Yeah NFS:underground 2 is a fantastic game.. Came out around when GTA: San Andreas came out, great stuff..
For me its NFS: Underground 2 and Midnight Club: LA that are the best street racers to buy with huge mods etc. Right now NFS have left the street racing style and Midnight Club: LA have taken over and making it better.. God bless Rockstar Games. |
