Default Have you had any serious illnesses?

Okay, mine wasn't so much an illness infact I don't know what it was I'm not going to ask because it's sad for my parents but anyway... I was 3 and I just kept having nose bleeds (they weren't normal ones, they lasted for ages) anyway... this happened for about a week, so my parents took me to the doctors and they had said that I probably bumped my nose, nothing to worry about. Well, a few days later I had a nose bleed again (they just happened out of the blue) and it was at 1:00am in the morning, I was sleeping at the time! I woke up and I had a huge puddle of blood around me, it was that much blood. I got rushed into hospital by my Dad and Mum and my nose was still bleeding on the way. Anyway, I lost (I can't remember how much blood) but I was kept in hospital for 6 months, the doctors had said if I hadn't of woke up I would have died because I lost so much blood, I had so much blood donated to me that now my Dad gives blood and has since then. I spent my 4th birthday in hospital.

That's all for me, other than that I've been fine.

Crikey, I keep having noseblees recently too :S

Anyway, my worst was a chest infection: I ran up the stairs and basically was dieing. But it got much worse when I went swimming for my club, felt okay for the first 15 metres, then I felt REALLY weird, then I basically got out of the pool after 2 lengths and was like, AWFUL.
We went to a doctors, and he said if i'd have stayed in the water for even one more length I'd have definitley got pneumonia. So thank GOD for my stubborness! Still, it really sucks to not be able to do any exercise without being really exhausted. I remember when I walked to town walking really slowly with a bottle of water [10 minute walk] was the longest i managed.
Urgh and I also sounded like a foghorn

You just need to keep going back etc. I was on tablets etc for YEARS and sprays and then I just got worse.

I still get puffy eyes, runny nose etc but its a lot better. You should speak to your GP about it.

No not yet.

i have been quite lucky. iv never had to go into hospital overnight. obviously iv been for check ups and stuff but apart from that im fine. i have never broken a bone or needed stitches or any medical stuff.

i try my hardest to avoid doctors and hospitals. if im sick i just grin and bare it. i found this lump on my chest a few years back and i know its silly but i just ignored it till it went away. rather that then go to the doctors.

EDIT. actually i have Nystagmus but thats not serious.

no not me but my sister was about 3 when she got this really bad sickness bug thing and she didnt eat or drink properly for a week and her skin turned all grey and wrinkly so my dad like took her to the doctors. They said there was nothing wrong with her so my dad was like screaming DOES THIS LOOK LIKE AN OK BABY TO YOU!???? lol So yeh they treated her after that. She had to be given thesefluid things for like 2 or more hours so i stayed at my friends house

Most serious thing that happen, was an accident.. does that count? was i was 20cm from losing my left arm...

I was climbing up a fence like this fence below:

I put a door against it and it slipped down and i got caught on one of the spikes. I was 11 years old when it happened. I dropped and i screamed and broke free! I ran straight home wite a bleading are i could my mussle well i thought it was my mussle later found out it wasnt. I got 48 stitches but they said i was very lucky if i was any closer to my armpit it would of bee SO MUCH WORSE. but the scar is SO COOL. It's like an 'L' shape :P. I will take a picture and upload it later

I have never been seriously ill.
Never been to hospital, except for visiting and checkups.
I have never needed anything medical ever.
I make sure I am careful always... the thought of being seriously ills truely scares me.
My whole family have ben seriously ill though.
Both Brothers and late sister all suffered from Meningitis.
Stephen my second oldest brother, had a small case, nothing too bad.
David my eldest brother when he was a baby, very nearly died.
Nula, my sister also had meningitis.

I've had some nasty asthma attacks before now, at one time there could be something like 3 hours between 2 attacks and I needed steroids in the end. I generally use 2 inhalers (a preventer and a reliever) and a spacer for my asthma - the last time I was on steroid tablets was 2 years ago.

I also had food poisoning after a dodgy curry last October and basically spent 2 days throwing up mostly - other than that I've had nothing worse than colds and flu, I also had chicken pox and scarlet fever (not together) when I was about 5.
