She was one of the most iconic UK prime ministers ever, but overall did Thatcher and her cabinet do good or bad for Britain?
I have purposely not make a neutral option ![]() |

I personally she did alot of good for our country.
Despite some disagreeing, I think privatisation has saved the country ALOT of money, and made us what we are today. Also, I think her hardlined policies helped us in many ways. However, I think it was the wrong move to sale the council house, as now we have less money because of it, and less homes available for those who cant afford their own house. Also, I think she gave the PM to much power, and took power away from the cabinet. |

Probably my favourite of the last 50 or so years. All you need is a snapshot of 1979 and one of 1990, and spot the difference. Some of it was natural economic growth, internationally, sure, but she did a lot to pull us out of the winter of discontent.
Plus she's quite sexy. |

The Problem is Stinking New Labour used her Groundwork and took it more and more into their Own. Corrupt WarCriminal Blair made Labour into New Labour which is infact New Conservative. Hence this UK New Labour Depression. Thatcher brought the Unions into the Real World Blair Loved that. In 1978 it was like Now. |

What people forget is that Thatcher wasn't even that liked until the early 80's. I think she did a lot of good with things like right to buy etc, that made it more achievable for people to reach a main goal to buy their house rather than be happy with a council house, although in turn thats tarnished the image of the council house. She also got Britain out of a recession a hell of a lot faster than that lot today which was good for the economy.
But she also got us into pointless wars over nothing, so in effect loads of people were killed for nothing. But having said all of that I have no clue about politics so for me I don't actually know because I'm not even 50% sure of a lot of the things she did let alone 100% ![]() |

Amazing that the most vile person in politics is now having her life story re-written. You guys would be calling for her execution if she was in power right now.

She presided over millions of long term unemployment. Millions in fear of unemployment.....A health servise in tatters . The Falklands disaster......Privatisation and the lining of midlemen pockets under the guise of efficiency savings. A cabinet that were nothing more than cowerdly poodles to her dictatorship style.......Was she good or bad for Britain.......It's a no brainer. She was incredibly evil and the worst prime minister for this country of all times........Not forgetting to mention she has tea and sympathy with war criminals......

Falklands disaster? The Argentineans invaded the islands; British territory. What kind of a joke would we have looked like if we just sat back and let them take it? The people of the islands have always wanted to remain British, and so they should.
As for privatisation - it revived the economy. And the majority of those businesses privatised benefitted from an increase in performance and management - the government couldn't afford to run them, and were obviously doing a bad job. Also, she's partially responsible for the cooling of relations with Russia at the end of the Cold War. I'll agree with you on the Cabinet though. And the poll tax was a stupid move. But 'evil'? That's hardly fair. |
