Default If you transferred someones brain into another body, who is it?

All in the thread title.

Brain in new body. Who is the person, the person who's brain it is, or the person's who body it is?

All hypothetical obviously

Well it would be you. Seeing as the brain controls your body.

The person is the brain.. You are your brain, the soul is the mind, what we are is our mind and that is the human brain.
But the brain would reject the new body.

Right now think of these things, might not just be that simple:

- People will know 'you' that I don't, and people who know me won't know 'you'
- Legally, who is it? Passports, photo id and all that
- Who's birthday is right, the body's birthday or the brains birthday?
- Your body is because of your lifestyle, everyones bodies are different

Things like that which make you ... you

The brain is me, but in terms of legalities they aren't going to believe me if I say "he took ma brain". So I'd have to look like me legally to be me, but actual me is my brain.

??? We have heart transplant, even face... But the person is still the same person, another brain would not be the same person and age will go by the brain, not hands, legs, lungs etc... If this was in court then the brain would count as what makes you and me is our brains.. If toms brain was put into ross's body then ross would be no more and tom will look like ross but will legaly be tom... If you get a face transplant you are still the same person by law and by nature.

The brain obviously controls the body. There are people with fake limbs, and fake hips bones etc. The brain is the only think that determines ones consciousness.

And if a brain transfer actually was possible, I would think that everyone would know about it, so the whole the wont recognize me bit, is a little irrelevant.

And in a court of law it is the brain that would be legal and not the limb, limbs are the owner of the brain..

Heres one for you.

If you die...but your brain gets put into another body before it is starved of oxygen, so it still works fine...is it like coming back to life? Would you remember your life as the other body? Its all very strange...

Like if people had brain transplants...surely, they die, because it isnt their brain...even though their body is still alive. They are someone else, so instead of having a brain transplant to same them, they are donating their body to a bodyless brain

Thats very simple. YOu are the brain. I know this is impossible of course, but I am just gonna humour the hypothetical. People can have cosmetic surgery, and change completely how they look. They can also have artificial limbs, artificial hearts, or even heart transplants, liver transplants, kidneys, etc....without changing who they are. SO obviously, the body parts, dont determine who you are.
So in conclusion, the brain, will become the person. And as for what Tom said about Id's and friends and stuff, if this was possible, obviously, it will be legally determined that you are now a different person.
LOL! This is a funny hypothesis.
