Default People wouldn\'t have been happy if the Skins cast was still the same...

A thought just occured to me, If they stuck to the old cast for Series 3 of Skins it would have probably been horrendous. You'd either have a fair few characters not being in it due to the fact everyone went their own way or a horridly underdeveloped structure of having them all in it following their own stories at their own unis which wouldn't have worked sicne it would be hard for them to interact. It just would not work unless they put they set it a few years later with the cast in they're 20's or something but then it wouldn't have been Skins, It would have been like a drama version of 2 packets of crisps...

I think the new cast is a great move and it benefits from the mix of tones from the previous series. I just hope we manage series out of them (Split the last college year into two series? Like how they did a term for a series in the Inbetweeners?).

People would have complained that they wanted more though. Either way they were gonna upset people.

Exactly! I don't see why everyone complained so much, a new cast is refreshing. I mean there was no way series 3 would have been carried out with the old cast as they moved on and went to uni, and obviously the actors etc went on to do new things (ie dev patel)
Effy was the perfect link to a new series, as she was the younger sister and heading for college, it's obvious this had been planned all along because Effy wasn't really often featured in series 1 and 2.
I like the new cast just as much as the old, if not better. I miss Cassie, Chris and Sid, thats it.

It could have easily progressed. The main ones could have all gone to the same Uni. Then bring in new characters to go around storylines and axe the ones who didn't really count. Problem solved.

Its still rubbish either way though

I don't see the huge problem, I adore the new cast. G1 was drying up at the end of S2 anyway. A S3 with them would have been, as you said, horrendous.
