Default If you ran a prison?

Hi guys!

Basically i read in many newspapers every so often that criminals are getting play stations, x boxes, sky tv, playing snooker, watching sport etc and it really p***es me off that they have commited a crime and are still getting these things!! they wonder why our prisons are full and some ( not all) homeless/poor people are commiting crime its because going to prison is better than being on the street or living badly!

My question is do you agree with me? and if you ran a prison what would they have in their rooms?

i would have -- window high up, toilet, bed, sink!

Depends on their crime, I would have different sections for different crimes, some people should get some ok stuff and get the opportunity to become a better person. Some nothing... but if I ran prisons I would make them work a lot more, no free time, they should all work for their luxuries, we should have our clothes made my prisoners and our electricals... free labour!

Most prisons don't have playstations, xbox etc. Don't believe everything you read.

I would have an reward scheme - the well behaved prisoners who abide by the rules would have such luxuries such as games consoles
Prisoners are there to live away from society because they are a danger to the public but that doesn't mean they should have the worst possible living conditions ever

I'm pretty sure a high majority are just basic essentials, metal frame bed, sink, toilet. With an exercise yard.

The closest most get to entertainment is via a prison library service.

The places you hear of with xbox etc in the media are usually just small-offence youth offenders institutes etc - the media just make it sound like it's a prison.

VEry few prisons have any of these luxuries, plus if you ran a prison you would have to follow government rules, so there wouldn't be much I could change.

I'd have different cattle prods for the criminals and stamp their forehead upon entry with the relevant crime

depends what they did but even those inside for the most petty of crimes should only have basics eg.sink, toilet, metal bed.Pedo`s murderers, rapists, should have a matress and a bucket. But then again theres people who are wrongly imprisoned.

Nobody here could run a prison you'd just fail.

You have to work with what you have got, and you get a set amount of money, big changes would be hard to complete and keep up.
