CULT ITV sci-fi show Primeval is to be turned into a Hollywood blockbuster.

And the dinosaur-chasing drama could also be re-made into a US TV series.

Producer Impossible Pictures has teamed up with movie giant Warner Bros and will be starting work on a film version later this year.

It is not known if stars such as comedian Ben Miller, former S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt and actor Andrew-Lee Potts will be offered their roles as Home Office official Sir James Lester, reptile expert Abby Maitland and student Connor Temple for the big screen.

Primeval was launched in 2007 as a rival to Doctor Who. It features a group of scientists who track down and capture terrifying prehistoric creatures which break through time into the present day.

An insider said: “Sci-fi is huge business in Hollywood but the stories have to be right.

“Primeval is a fresh approach to the genre so will be something different for audiences. The show’s already proved it has a big following on ITV, and that’s what pricked Hollywood’s ears up.”

Impossible Pictures — also behind BBC’s Walking With Dinosaurs — is in talks with American TV networks about making a US version of Primeval.

Jeph Loeb, who has worked on BBC2 hit Heroes, is understood to be on board to adapt the show.

I hope they use the UK cast for the film

Well it's the sun so it's credibility is in massive question. If it is being remade they won't use any of the original cast sicne generally in America a mainstream audience is not allowed to accept a UK cast (apart from a few obvious exceptions) Everything has to be remade so that it centres around America.

God I hate Hollywood, They have to remake everything due to a false belief that it won't be accepted unless it's american. Hollywood has no faith in it's main audience.
