A CELEBRITY stalker was given a four-month jail sentence after harassing former Big Brother winner Kate Lawler. Mark Taylor, aged 46, admitted sending Ms Lawler, who has an address in Beckenham, sexually explicit mail between May 7 and September 16 last year. An indefinite restraining order was made against Taylor, indicating he must not contact Ms Lawler. Bromley Magistrates’ Court also heard he was not allowed to contact Meg Ryan, Jennifer Aniston, TV presenter Penny Smith, Kylie Minogue, Dannii Minogue, Lily Allen or Fearne Cotton. Taylor, from Oxford, is not allowed to enter any of their workplaces or residences. He must also not enter the borough of Bromley or the Birmingham City Council area, where 28-year-old Ms Lawler works as a DJ. Taylor was arrested at his home in Oxford by Bromley police on September 16 last year and charged with harassment. He was bailed to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on September 30, with conditions not to contact the victim. He failed to appear before magistrates and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Taylor was then arrested on December 5 at his mother’s address in Oxford and appeared at Greenwich Magistrates’ Court on December 6. He pleaded guilty to harassment on January 21 and was given a jail sentence on March 27. Taylor was released after sentencing as he had already been in custody for 66 days. This is the second time Taylor has been convicted of harassment against Ms Lawler, who used to be a pupil at Langley Park School for Girls, Hawksbrook Lane, Beckenham. In 2006 he was given a community order requiring him to do 160 hours’ unpaid work and a two-year restraining order was made against him. This followed a three-year campaign of letters sent to Ms Lawler’s parents’ address in Beckenham. Ms Lawler was the first female winner of Big Brother in 2002. |
