REALITY TV winner Brian Belo’s celebrity lifestyle has had a reality check after he quit his bachelor pad to move back in with his mum in Basildon. At 21 he admits he is fed-up with surviving on pizzas and Pot Noodles at his two-bedroom Billericay flat he bought with his £100,000 prize money. He said: “I got really skinny because I hadn’t been eating very well. I was getting a bit lonely too. “I didn’t want to do it at first out of pride, but then I thought ‘I’m only 21 and not many people as young as me are lucky enough to be able to afford their own flat’.” Brian, who won Big Brother in 2007, revealed he is keen to forge a TV career even if he has to start at the very bottom and work his way up. “I am now going to look for things behind the scenes in television, as a runner if I have to. It wouldn’t bother me starting at the bottom as I haven’t really got an ego.” Brian, a former South East Essex College student, also hopes to make a bit of extra cash renting out his flat to top up his income from radio, television, and nightclub appearances. Since winning Big Brother nearly two years ago he has made a living from these appearances, although he would not let on how much he had earned. He said: “I know I can’t do it for ever, but I’m enjoying myself at the moment.” He has appeared as himself in six episodes of Harry Hill’s TV Burp, on panel show 8 out of 10 Cats and most recently in Channel Four drama Dead Set. Appearances on ITV2’s Justin Lee Collins Show and in a TV documentary celebrating the tenth anniversary of Big Brother are also in the pipeline, but for now Brian is just happy to be back in Basildon. He admits he is a bit of a mummy’s boy and is happy to be back home with mum Sue. He said: “I’ve been going out in Festival Leisure Park a lot more. “I suppose you can take the boy out of Basildon, but you can’t take Basildon out of the boy.” |
