Default £2M BIG BRUV BETTING SCANDAL - Daily Star [merged]

Per the Daily Star (trash):

A MIDDLE-Eastern gambling syndicate is plotting to fix Big Brother and net a £2million-pound fortune.

Gang members gained access to last year’s voting patterns and are ready to strike again when the new show starts next month.

The Daily Star understands they made around £1 million by influencing the result of last year’s final with a surge of last-minute phone calls on outsider Rachel Rice.

Blind DJ Mikey Hughes, 34, was 8-11 favourite but was narrowly beaten by dull Welsh teacher Rachel, 25.

Anyone betting on Rachel, at 100-30, could have scooped a windfall.

An investigation has pinpointed a Middle Eastern gang which had a source telling them about voting on the night.

Their contact is said to work outside BB’s makers or Channel 4, but has access to the voting system.

BB bosses fear Channel 4 could axe the reality show after its 10th anniversary if they fail to pull in viewers or are hit by more damaging criticism.

Our source also revealed:

● Credit-crunch cuts mean the house has been refurbished “on the cheap” and wannabes will have to rough it.

● Shock tasks for housemates include being held hostage by ex-soldiers.

● A crackdown on peeping toms among the crew who spy on contestants showering.

Last year Rachel won with 51.3% of the vote but we can reveal that up until five minutes before phone lines closed runner-up Mikey was winning.

Our source said the turnaround was evidence of the gambling syndicate … set to try again this year:

“It was a done deal and then in the space of five minutes it all changed,” the source said.

“We think that some how these people discovered how many votes would be needed to see Rachel win.

“Mikey was favourite – anyone who bet on her would have got great odds.

“In the last few minutes there was a large move to back Rachel which led to people winning a lot of money.”

We have been told 15 wannabes will start on the show, hosted by Davina McCall, 41, but some could go in minutes. And they’ll find the house is “basic and bog standard”.

Our source said: “In these hard times we haven’t wasted money on expensive fixtures and fittings. If the housemates think they will be in luxury they’ll get a shock.”

But the refurbishment is not the only thing done on the cheap. The final housemates, put into hiding before the show starts, face going to remote British locations instead of abroad.

Last year the gang was hidden in France, Spain and Holland.

This year they can expect to be holed up in Wales, Scotland or Devon.

“It’s just another way of cutting costs,” admitted our source.

Bosses plan to reward winners with glimpses of the outside world, via a newspaper or internet.

Last year bosses found crew members were peeking at girls in the showers.

Our source said: “That’s all going to stop this time. BB is cleaning up its act. We can’t have any slip-ups this year.”

A spokeswoman said of last year’s show: “We are satisfied the programme and voting were conducted with appropriate care. This was also the finding of an Ofcom investigation.”

I hate the Daily Star. Biggest load of trash I've read in a while. Anyone could have made up that ****.

Imagine being a reporter at the Daily Star- it must be hugely embarrasing. When someone asks you who you work for and you say "Daily Star" - LMAO, it's the shitest newspaper this country has ever seen.

I hope it rots to hell once BB ends.

The TiBB poll showed that Rachel was a favourite by a long margin, and we have the most accurate online BB poll around.

I don't know why the bookies thought otherwise.

Actually, you certainly don't have the most accurate poll around.

The most accurate online poll is the Big Brother Online poll. It's the one which has most consistently got the correct winner.

I suppose you have a vested interest in saying your poll is the best because you work on here, but it certainly isn't the case let me assure you

Nope, that's not true. TiBB, like every other website, has been wrong on the odd occasion.

I have no doubt that the TiBB poll is ONE of the best polls around. But it's a fairly accepted view accross the BB forums and fansites that the Big Brother Online poll is the most reliable one. They were correct even when the least likely of people were expected to win.

Statistically, the Big Brother Online poll is indeed more accurate than the TiBB poll.

I have seen extensive research done on poll relaibility across the different Big Brother websites, and it would suggest the BB Online poll is on the whole more accurate than this one.

This is not necessarily a bad thing for TiBB, as the poll over here is very good as well. But the BB online poll is the best.

Just look at all these articles suggesting BB Online is the best poll:

http://tinyurl.com/c6sm47
http://tinyurl.com/dlrjbk

It is not just my opinion, but a fairly standard one among a lot of people.
