I was kinda hoping for advice because my mum always drinks. It always makes her turn bitchy and never talk to me or my sisters. I tell her every single day she needs to stop and she always says she will but she doesnt.
Is there anything I can do?? Sorry if it sounds pathetic but it really gets me down/really angry. |

Speak to your mum, if that doesn't work then speak to your dad or another adult.
I know how you feel cos my mums damaged her liver due to (we think) alcohol consumption, so if you ever wanna chat or anythin then gimme a u2u x |

Instead of taking her drinking as the problem, take her reasons for drinking as the problem. Alcohol... 90% of the time... is for escapeism. Either to escape the downsides of "real life", or to create a false image of yourself. For your mum, its the first thing. There's nothing you can do to stop it, but you can start by realising the drink is making her ignore you and your sister - it's nothing you've done wrong, and it's not even your mums personality to do that. It's completely down to the drink, so don't feel that there is any blame to be placed.
Secondly; your mum must be very unhappy at the moment. I assume for the reasons you told us. Maybe you could just ask her how she is, randomly during the day (when she's sober?) - she'll realise you're concerned for HER, and not her drinking. Good luck and stay strong ![]() |

Aww Nina
![]() I like Lauren's advice, I read in a book that if you see things from their point of view and not form their problem, people tend to appreciate it more and sort themselves out over time ![]() |

My dad used to be an alcholic, he had to go to hospital to make him realise he needed to stop. Sometmes it's the best way. Maybe talk to a family member about it and say that it's worrying you
![]() Good luck ![]() |

Caitlin, this site will help...
http://www.al-anonuk.org.uk/ It's not anyone's fault. These things happen, but it's down to the person to decide how to deal with it. Al-Anon is for families/friends of people who drink. They're a really good source of info and support. ![]() Edit to add: http://www.al-anonuk.org.uk/alateen is the part which will possibly be more relevant to you since you're young. |
