Im not going to make this into a thread moaning about the Live Feed, because tit looks like there is nothing we can do about it. Im just curious to know what you think about why they axed the 24/7 Feed.
C4 are claiming that it is that it is expensive and because of the recession 1. If it was expensive, they could get rid of BBBM (which used to be MUCH better with Russell) or get rid of BBLB (not both of them, just 1). 2. All the BB's around the world show the Live Feed, its the whole point of the show. Even the most poorest countries in the world showing BB have money to pay for the feed. Many countries have more thsn 2 feeds, Italy has 8 I think!! For me, the real reason is because of Rachel winning BB9. I know Ive said this before but if we had only seen the night on LF in BB9, no way would Rachel would have won (as much as i love her), the HL show edited her badly almost every show. The producers didnt like the fact that WE chose OUR winner, instead of THEY choosing our winner. People may say "But the Live Feed votes for Rachel wouldnt have got her the win" Well technically it would have, considering 3m voetd throughout the series, Im guessing about 800,000-1m votes in the entire final, and LF is watched by about 400-600,000 averaged, the LF would have affected it. I would tell you now that if we had no LF, Sara(as much as that would make me happy too) or Mikey would have won. What if in BB10, we miss so much. We wont know the HMs true selves as we wont see them 24/7, we could end up choosing a winner who is horrible but being edited to be an angel (eg. Luke). Okayy so rant over, sorry about the long essay. What do you think? |

Your 'long essay' was a very interesting read. I agree with what you said. To be honest, I don't know what the REAL reason is behind the axing of the live feed. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the whole purpose of BB is to follow housemates for thirteen or whatever number of weeks. The live feed is live overnights as well as far as I believe. I do think axing the live feed will leave the show in even a worse place than it already is.

I mostly agree, but in no way was Luke edited to be an angel.

I say this all the time but why would the producers go to such lengths to get their desired winner? It's making them money, and yes they have a preferential (sp?) winner but at the end of the day they don't care that much as to drop the live feed.
Live feed was the least watched out of the shows and they got rid of it, simple as. |

But as mentioned in the opening post, I'd rather they got rid of BBBM.

I still think the live feed axe was primarily down to the costs but i'm sure points like that didn't encourage the producers to fight for the live feed to remain

Looking back on Week 1, he would talk to Steph about how they would stay and how Mario or Lisa would go, then straight after would go to Mario and Lisa and talk about how he thinks Steph will go. |

No live feed goes against the whole point of Big Brother, those that don't agree need to look it up and find the facts about the show!
The whole thing about lack of money is BS! Total utter BS!! But most people buy into it.. Nothing we can do, the glory days of Big Brother have gone, we will be left with vile BS shows like BGT and X Factor.. |

Also, they probably received alot of agro for devoting the whole channel to BB, I mean at points BBLIVE was on all day. It's nothing to do with your theory IMO. Oh and re Luke, he wasnt edited in a positive way, the first few weeks he was subtle and was sneaky but messed up around Week Five. |

I agree with everything you've said. Axing the live feed is the stupidest thing C4 have ever done.
The whole concept of Big Brother is to be able to watch strangers living in a house with each other 24/7, and without the live feed, we can't do that. So the show has now lost its concept completely. It's made me really annoyed, because as much as I might not have watched the live feed, at least it was there when I wanted it. Now, we're going to have a winner who has been chosen by the producers, because they've been given an unfair advantage in the editing. As someone else mentioned on here, it's going to be very weird not being able to watch the reactions on launch night after everyone has entered. |

And yeah its my opinion, so i dont expect everyone to agree with me, but this is what I think. But on the Luke situation, i used to watch the Live Feed more in the first half of the series and what I saw was obvious bitching and manipulatation. I mean compare it to the HL show, he was being treated very positively by the producers. the same could be said for Kat, she was fine at the start but in the middle she got a bit too confident and started manipulating nominations, BB didnt show that side of Kat immediatley, they chose to show us towards the end (the barber shop task) when she stole the scissors off Lisa, started cutting her own hair, swinging around her chair, singing, screaming and basically failing the task. That was the first time that the HL show actually showed her being the annoying person she was. |

To be honest i wil mis live feed, i know its on all night, and is ok if we get lively night owls. But if they all go bed early, we wouldn't get much viewing time, and not getting to know there true characters. Wasn't L/f the reason to get to know them. I would pay for L/f given chance.

Has anyone ever thought they took it away to actually improve the show? The money saved from the Live feed could be put into something else, making it a better series overall? At the end of the day it wasn't pulling in the numbers - Even people have said that they didnt watch it but they think it should remain, and they are to blame. They didn't watch it so it's not going to be shown, it would be pointless. |

It's a cost-cutting move (though if it adversely affects ratings it was a bad move).

According to a friend in the know, while Channel 4 and Endemol are both feeling the pinch and while it staying off air is down to this, the final straw, the deciding factor in axing it during CBB were the conditions in the celebrities (particularly LaToya and Verne's) contracts.

The "insider" who told you that the launch date was going to be Friday 5th June. In fact, didn't you say that the decision had been made "months ago". Looks like you were wrong. Not surprised. I don't think you have an insider link- it's just BS. ![]() |

![]() Doctor Who's 2009 4 standalone specials have been planned to air this year since late 2005! The first two were scheduled before the last series went to air! Do you really think big broadcasters with 24 hours of schedules to fill and up to 336 shows a week to pencil in do them at the last second do you? A provisional date would have been set as I said, months ago, and then if needed due to unforseen competition or news events changed accordingly later on. Usually (I'd say 8 in 10 times) this provisional date is the same as the final one used. The longer the show, the earlier it's planned. BB's 13 weeks long, which by UK standards is very long. Anyone who studies or takes an interest in media could tell you this. |

I don't think it will be the same without live feed for me it won't be i used to like watching the live feed when ever i could that way you get to see the real person instead of them editing it for the catch up show.

But you made it sound like a fact that it would be 5th June. Quote:
You could have said the "provisional" date (or target date) was Friday 5trh June. But instead you made it up like a fact. Maybe you should reconsider how you post stuff on the Internet making false claims. It's totally out of order, and you're trying to make an image of yourself as to someone who works in the media having inside info. But really you're just a College boy with an interest in media, but a dillusional image of himself as some kind of media/insider person. |
