Default \'Hit Me Baby One More Time\' - new reality music show

This starts tonight on ITV at 5:45. It sounds remarkably like Reborn in the USA.

Quote:
Stars Reunite For TV Show

Pull on your leg warmers and don those teeny boppers - a new reality TV show is to hit our screens.

ITV's Hit Me Baby One More Time will feature pop stars from the 70s, 80s and 90s pitting themselves against each other for a second chance of fame.

The first show, to be broadcast on Saturday, will feature Gloria Gaynor singing I Will Survive, Howard Jones performing What Is Love, Limahl singing Too Shy, and Tiffany giving a rendition of I Think We're Alone Now.

Wallow in pop nostalgia with Tiffany

Other favourites from the past include Belinda Carlisle, Doctor and the Medics, T'Pau and Chesney Hawkes.

Contestants will have to perform their old hits as well as takes on more modern numbers.

The show will see the public voting off contestants each week.

The winner will stand a chance of launching a new career in the music business.

Host Vernon Kay said: "I'm really looking forward to presenting Hit Me Baby One More Time as it's a great opportunity to find out what the artists who made the tracks of my years have been up to.

"They'll be performing modern day classics as well as the hits that made them famous."

Here is the list of performers and their most famous songs:
911 - A Little Bit More
Baccara - Yes Sir, I Can Boogie
Belinda Carlisle - Heaven is a Place on Earth
Boy Meets Girl - Waiting for a Star to Fall
Carol Decker -China in your Hand
Chesney Hawkes - The One and Only
Cutting Crew - I Just Died in your Arms Tonight
Doctor & The Medics - Spirit in the Sky
Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
Haddaway - What is Love?
Honeyz - Finally Found
Howard Jones - What is Love?
Jaki Graham - Set Me Free
Junior - Mama Used to Say
Kelly Marie - Feels Like I'm in Love
Kenny Thomas - Thinking About Your Love
Limahl - Too Shy
Mica Paris - Like Dreamers Do
Nathan Moore (Brother Beyond) - The Harder I Try
Nick Heyward - Love Plus One
Princess - Say I'm Your Number One
Rozalla - Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)
Shakin' Stevens - This Ole House
Sinitta - So Macho
Sybil - The Love I Lost
The Real Thing - You To Me Are Everything
Tiffany - I Think We're Alone Now

Some of the participants

---

Self-styled 80s synch pioneer Howard Jones is just one of the former pop stars competing in a new reality show.

Howard, who is now 50, had nine Top 20 hits in the 80s.
---

Gloria Gaynor will also be taking part in ITV's Hit Me Baby One More Time in an attempt to win fame for the second time around.

Her biggest hit, I Will Survive, still fills dancefloors nationwide.
---

Limahl will also be taking part.

Now 46, he is still in demand for gigs and TV appearances 22 years after rocketing to fame with Too Shy.
---

Tiffany also stands to win a second chance of fame.

Following her 80s success, Tiffany bought a tropical island for her family and a quarter of the moon for herself and husband Macho Man Randy Savage.
---

After a three-year break, all-girl R&B trio the Honeyz have re-formed and plan to tour and release a new album later this year.
---

It's all smiles between the contestants now, but could they fallout when the competition hots up?

I agree cc, vernon Kay just doesn't transfer to prime time telly. He was fine on T4, but he was poor on that Girls and Boys thing as well.

As for his simpering wife, she is tooooooo sickly for me. She only had one decent TV moment for me. Alongside a certain co-presenter on Exclusive.

I didn't sit through the whole 'Hit me baby' experience. I just say Tiffany and thought she was well average for a minor club act. Good grief. And SHE won? How bad were the others?

It's pretty good, they sing one of their famous hits and a cover of a recent song.

Havent seen this yet, but sounds like another method of has beens trying to get their faces back into the public eye. However no doubt my son will be watching this week as when he was young Shakin' Stevens was his favourite. Sad my kids - my daughter liked Rick Astley though she wont admit this now.

My son was really pleased and went and got all his old Shaky records out after the programme. Must agree with others though Vernon is rubbish.
