The US medical comedy Scrubs is to return for a ninth series, it has been announced.
The eighth, and what had been expected to be the last, series of the show had received low ratings after switching from NBC to ABC and the announcement Zach Braff, who plays the lead character John 'JD' Dorian, was to leave. However, ABC has now announced that the show will return for another series, although Braff will only star in six episodes during which time the emphasis of the show is expected to shift to other characters. The Hollywood Reporters claim regular cast members Donald Faison, who plays Dr Turk, John C McGinley, who plays Dr Cox, and Neil Flynn, who plays The Janitor, will all return for the ninth series. The show has been nominated for a series of awards since its conception in 2001, with Braff nominated for a Golden Globe for three consecutive years from 2005 to 2007. |

Scrubs will return for a ninth season, ABC has confirmed.
As previously reported, Zach Braff has signed up to appear in six episodes of the new season to help transition the show to its new set-up. Sarah Chalke is also expected to return for several episodes, while the show's regular cast - including Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn - have closed deals to continue as regulars. Judy Reyes, who plays Carla Espinosa in the medical comedy, has not been approached, but may guest star in the new season. Digital Spy (cause I know these guys are usaully right) |
