Default Big Brother to put celebrity into the house?

This story originated in the Daily Star.

Big Brother to throw a celebrity into the mix
Friday, 08 Apr 2005 16:28

Bosses at Big Brother are planning to liven up events in this year's show, by putting a top celebrity into the house.

Not content with the usual collection of fame-hungry members of the public, Channel 4 chiefs are considering bringing in a famous face who they hope will pull in the viewers.

Football legend Gazza, religious fanatic David Icke, and glamour model Lucy Pinder are all in the running, according to the Daily Star.

"If they add a celebrity to the mix it will be interesting to see who the public decide to cheer on," an insider told the newspaper.

If Gazza does decide to enter the house, it will not be the first time a football legend mixed with housemates. In Argentina's version of the show, the country's best ever player - one Diego Maradona - mingled with housemates. But the overweight star did not stick around for long, the producers pulled him out after a day entertaining the housemates and viewing audience alike.

It is surprising that TV bosses feel the need to liven up the show, given the sheer volume of weirdos who turned up for the BB auditions for the new series, which starts in May.

A contortionist, a female porn star, a convicted car thief and two frisky pensioners are all rumoured to be in the shortlist for the final 12 housemates.

However, Channel 4 has refused to give away any details about who the chosen ones are - this will be announced less than a week before the show kicks off.

I don't think that would be right, just stick to normal people. I like getting to know a whole set of new people.

This 'rumour' pops up every year.

They HAVE done it in other BBs, though ..... didn't some housemates get to play football with Maradona - and others had Status Quo play a concert for them?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see!!!!!

If they do bring in a celeb, the celeb shouldn't be allowed to win the show. That wouldn't be fair.

If an ex BB housmate were to be chosen as the "Celeb" then I think it should be Emma. The only reason being like her or not she was cheated out of her position in the house in BB5 and would deserve a second chance at completing a BB series.. Other wise I don't want to see any celeb BB type or otherwise.

I would like to see Helen as a celeb of course but on the other hand I think she has I hope gone beyond setting her self up for the possible humiliation that BB could bring to a contestant. Much better in the house and arms of Paul..

Victor and Jason were also out of control morons especially Victor but they were not cheated out of their position in the house......It takes two to tango...Emma didn't just argue with herself. She instead stood up to that monster of a sick personality named "Victor".

Emma was too much of a loose cannon and thats why BB got rid of her. Victor a monster with a sick personality lol . He was fine most of the time while Emma acted like a mental heatlth patient.

An ex-housemate, now that would be interesting. They should put marco in as he was laughable.

Victor fine most of the time. You must have been watching a different version of BB5 or had your eyes and ears closed most of the time..

Emma was a normal gutsy lass that would have no nonesense from the mafia mentality of the Victors of this world. No loose cannon just a girl with the guts to face up to a sicky monster like Victor.
