Default Who is the Queen Of Pop?

Everyone refers to some singers as "The Queen Of Pop". Singers like Britney, Madonna, Lady Gaga etc.

But in your opinion who really is the Queen of Pop?

Right now ? Lady Gaga owns Pop music.
Britney is dead since 2006.
Madonna is near the end.

Katie Perry is getting bigger but at the moment, Lady Gaga is what Pop music has best. And I'm not even a big fan of hers.

Madonna easily. Madonna will be until she dies. Lady GaGa has only been around for a few months, she's not even the princess.

Britney is sort of meh. Christina doesn't even seem to want to be the Princess or queen for that matter. Avril's died as has Pink. Beyonce is way to far RnB now and Jessica is completely off the radar. I think Miley Cyrus is our best bet for the next pop princess.

I think Madonna was quite a revolution in Pop music history. But she kinda lost her essence since her last 2 albums. But she'll remain one of the biggest, but not the biggest. She has less and less influence on today's music.

So right now, Lady Gaga has the biggest chance to become a huge one thanks to her looks and what does produce.

I'm sorry, but Madonna's reign ended years ago.
The only reason she got a number one with 4 Minutes was because of Justin and Timbaland.
And as much as I love Britney, I feel people don't warm to her as much anymore, so I think all we have left is Lady GaGa.

Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958) is an American recording artist, dancer, actress and entrepreneur. Born in Bay City, Michigan and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan, she moved to New York City in 1977, for a career in modern dance. After performing as member of the pop musical groups Breakfast Club and Emmy, she released her self-titled debut album in 1983, and then produced three consecutive number-one studio albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1980s and four more since year 2000.

Madonna is known for exploring religious symbolism and sexual themes in her work. This drew criticism from the Vatican throughout the 1980s. In 1992, she founded an entertainment company, Maverick, which published a book of photographs (Sex). She also released a studio album (Erotica) and starred in a film (Body of Evidence, 1993) with erotic themes. These works generated negative publicity and coincided with a fall in commercial sales in the 1990s. Madonna's career was revived in 1998, when the release of her album Ray of Light garnered critical acclaim.

Madonna has acted in 22 films. Although most failed critically and commercially, she earned a Golden Globe Award for her role in the 1996 film Evita. Divorced from actor Sean Penn, Madonna has a daughter, Lourdes, by her former personal trainer Carlos Leon. She also has two sons with former husband Guy Ritchie, one of whom was adopted from Malawi, causing media allegations they violated that country's adoption laws.

She has been regarded as "one of the greatest pop acts of all time" and dubbed the "Queen of Pop" by various sources. She is ranked by the Recording Industry Association of America as the best-selling female rock artist of the 20th Century and the second top-selling female artist in the United States with 63 million certified albums. Guinness World Records list her as the world's most successful female recording artist of all time and the top-earning female singer in the world with an estimated net worth of US$490 million, having sold over 200 million records worldwide. On March 10, 2008, she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Britney's complete tour has sold to and both her album & singles went to #1. She's not dead and still dominates Pop.

There is NO way Lady Gaga is queen of pop right now, especially after two singles.

Come back to me when she's reached the heights and achievements of Britney Spears, Madonna and other established female acts.

Yes, but I didn't say Lady GaGa IS the Queen of Pop, but that she is our only hope. IMO, there is no Queen atm, and it seems Lady GaGa has a bright future ahead of her to gain the title, as long as she continues to make great music. I am not forgetting Madonna's success, and there's no doubt that she is the most successful female artist of the 21st century, but thinking now in the year 2009, neither she nor anyone else holds the title. Hard Candy wasn't a very good album, yet Circus and The Fame both did extremely well, and due to the poor promotion of Britney's singles, people have not bought in to her as much this year. This leaves Lady GaGa, who has 2 number 1 singles already as well as a number 1 album. Admittedly, she obviously hasn't been as successful as Madge and Brit because she only broke through this year, but I believe that she is this year's "Queen of Pop" and that she may very well be for many years to come.

But people haven't bought into her THAT well. Quite a few sources have said "the next in a long line of Katy Perrys." I hope she is successful though, but I don't think she has longevity.

Madonna - highest grossing tour by a solo artist YEAR 2008-9

Madonna has a new contract with a new record label and may release more albums in the future. She will release her greatest hist this year and maybe some new singles.

Madonna will always be the queen of pop no matter what!

You're right; we don't know what's going to happen next year. We could be talking about a whole new artist and someone will be like "Remember Lady GaGa?", but I suppose..it all depends on opinion. I believe she will last long, but others may not. I hope she does, but if she doesn't, Im sure there'll be another diva for us to worship. :P

Yeah hence "right now" lol! I just don't think she can be called the current queen of pop, because she has two singles and an album which has barely gone platinum. There are other female artists (such as Britney, Madonna etc) who are still active after such a successful and long career and are still breaking records by doing so. I personally don't think Lady Gaga will be the icon of a generation like the latter were, her image isn't long-lasting because will eventually get bored of the whole shock factor she brings to her music and style. I hope she proves me wrong, because I'm a fan but I just think she got lucky with the songs she released this year.
