I was cynical about them actually being put in, but they could always be put in halfway through.

Think about it this way: If Big Brother really wanted to make sure they were housemates, they wouldn't want them going in at launch 'cause then they may not get housemate status. Remember, these are two people who seem to be dislike able characters.. Putting them in half way through stops there being a risk of them not actually getting in.
