Default Design of house - \'No Place to Hide\' - pictures added

Quote:
No place to hide on 'Big Brother'
By Anthony Barnes

22 May 2005

They have already found themselves exposed to the camera from every angle. But from this week, Big Brother contestants will find that they have nowhere to hide from their fellow inmates as producers make the competition even tougher.

Designers of the self-contained house, featured in the sixth-run of the reality series, have upped the use of glass in the building, which means that contestants will be visible to other contenders at virtually all times. In past shows they were able to shut themselves in the bedroom.

However, the latest version of the house, which is set in Elstree, Hertfordshire, will have a glass wall between the main living space and the one bedroom, which they all must share.

A spokeswoman for the Channel 4 series said: "The house looks really funky and aspirational and the contestants will probably think it is really cool when they first get in there. But they will find it is actually a very difficult place to live. There will be no hiding, but it's not supposed to be a holiday camp. This is a competition."

Housemates will enter the Big Brother house at 9pm on Friday and, as in past years, their identities will be secret until then. Producers have not revealed how many contestants will take part. The Big Brother launch is scheduled to go head-to-head with ITV1's Celebrity Love Island, which has been branded a flop.

Anyone caught todays Daily Star on Sunday? If not then you're missing new pictures of the house where, according to the star, there is a theme of three! and even, perhaps, three hidden rooms!.

Sadly only the paper itself is showing the Pics

THREE IN A SHOWER May 22 2005

THESE are the first pictures of the new Big Brother House which TV chiefs hope will make this year's show the raunchiest ever. In comes a new OUTDOOR bathroom with enough room for THREE housemates to shower together.

The canopied shower area is by the spa pool - also made larger to encourage more of the housemates to get hot and steamy.

Other changes in the £100,000 overhaul, which will be detailed by hosts Davina McCall and Dermot O'Leary, include a glass-fronted living room visible from the outside with a huge split-level sofa. The kitchen is in a separate area, connected to the living room by a glass door. A BB insider said: "There'll be plenty of opportunity for housemates to get up-close and personal."

Beer & wine on draught 24/7 But the only shower's OUTSIDE

LAGER and wine will be on tap round the clock in the new Big Brother house, The People can reveal.

The move is likely to cause explosive viewing with contestants able to get plastered whenever they feel like it - as long as Big Brother keeps the taps flowing.

Housemates will also be forced to strip off and take all their showers OUTSIDE, when the sixth series of the Channel 4 show starts on Friday.

Bosses have moved the only bathroom into the garden.

An insider said: "Contestants will take all their showers exposed to the elements for the entire 100 days."

Other additions to the house are a massage parlour and a ball pool with hidden clues buried inside which contestants must find to boost their shopping budget.

Just like last year, the new house is designed to be small and cramped with nowhere for housemates to hide when tempers flare. And bosses have threatened to make contestants suffer even more by shutting off the hot water.

But they will NOT be letting host Davina McCall into other secrets.

Phil Edgar-Jones, of Big Brother's production company Endemol, said: "We never tell her anything, because she can't keep her big mouth shut."

Meanwhile Big Brother fans have chosen their favourite contestants from the 62 who have appeared during the show's five series. The winner will be announced on Thursday.

Looks like it might be the kitchen, corkie ..... but I could be wrong!

Cheers for the pics, James. Not too sure how they're going to cope with an outdoor shower ...... but we'll soon find out!

I like the idea of the bedroom and the lounge being separated by glass - no where to hide, and plenty of scope for arguments etc. with the early birds complaining that the late nighters are making too much noise!

This is starting to hint towards there just being one house though - unless the shower in the garden is going to be shared by two sets of housemates and they will only be able to access it either in the daytime or at night. That would be cruel - especially if hot water is only available in the dayimte!!

Getting excited now .... look at the pictures on the cushion covers!! They look a bit like the sun (or they could be flowers, lol) but that could mean its part of the "Sun" house!!

2 houses theory is back on!
