I see proper cake, cakes in the biscuit aisle all the time... they are cakes, the ingredians prove that.

I think they are considered biscuits because of size/shape and are a McVities product.

From Wikipedia; "McVities defended its classification of Jaffa Cakes as cakes. In doing so it produced a 12" Jaffa Cake to illustrate that its Jaffa Cakes were simply miniature cakes."

If McVities says they are cakes, they are cakes.
