Over the last couple of years we have seen a drop in ratings, which is likely to effect the future of the show. BB7's average rating was 4.7m, BB9's was 3.6m and at the moment BB10's average is 2.6! Loads of people think that is caused by no live feed and others just think people have lost interest, but is this necessarily the case?
Well i have another theory, BB producers decided to cut live feed in January for CBB6 because the official BB site video's proved to be more popular. This year BB10 producers have stepped the mark up with the site. They update it so much more frequently than the days of BB7. My theory is that people don't accually want to watch the show on the TV because they are updated all the time on the site, there is more videos than ever before! For example, My cousin. My cousin loves Big Brother but she feels no need to watch the show when she gets home because she is updated all day at work. She only watches it when she really wants to watch something more in action. She watches it when she can but some people after a hard days work cant be bothered and want to spend there time watching other things. Now this is just a theory and it makes sence in my head. What do people think? Let me know! ![]() |

Are you delusional? Its never updated, everyone on there is complaining about the lack of news! I used to get email updates from BB every couple of hours during BB4,5,6 now they don;t even update what happened the night before until gone 11. The site is rubbish!

Probably accounts for a few viewers but probably not the whole 1m they've lost between BB9 and 10
BB has run its course and hardcore fans need to accept it. No format changes, huge advertising campaign etc was ever going to save it They should try and end it this year, go out on a high and whilst a few people are still watching. And 10 is a good figure to go out on. They'll do another next year and ratings will sink even further .... |

Oh dear I have upset an oldie! Was just wondering if you imagined that the site was 'great'! No need to swear! If you had taken the time to look at the site you would realise that it was not being updated as regularly as it used to be. SO there!

well i think the ratings are justified
there are more channels than ever before, ratings on popular shows are all down lets compare Big Brother to Eastenders 3 years ago BB was averageing 4.7 million this season its averaging 2.6 , which is a drop of nearly 50% eastenders 10 years ago was averaging 12-13 million and now it averages 8 million , noone goes on about that ?? and plus Channel 4 and BB execs dont realise that putting BB on a saturday night will bring low ratings and as a result a drop in the average figuires If BB9 wasnt shown on a saturday last year then it would have averaged 4.0 million but thats my humble opinion |

Another thing to consider is the transition from analogue to digital over the years. Around 4-5 years ago most people in the UK only had terrestrial TV and therefore were limited to what they can watch. Now nearly every home has Sky, Virgin or Freeview.
Like hippychick said, people now have alot more choice as to what to watch. |
