Default BB Are \"NOT\" Going To Tell Housemates Of Michael Jacksons Death. Hooray!!!

Why shouldn't they have to suffer like the rest of us?

Housemates not to be told about Jackson death
Day 23, 14:22 BST

By Jenni Marsh

Big Brother contestants will not be informed that popstar Michael Jackson has died at the age of 50.

The show's producers have decided that telling the housemates would breach rules which forbid contestants from having any contact with the outside world, The Mirror reports.

A show spokeswoman told the newspaper: "If it was a relative we would speak to their family and tell them in private.

"But to tell them about Michael Jackson would break the part of the rules that we don't let them have any contact with the outside world while they're in the house."

However, one of the housemates will find out this evening as either Halfwit or Angel will be evicted.

I think they should know sonething as big as this, but also about the lovely Farah, as I'm sure it would provide good chances of pretend sorrow and false emotions!!!

I can understand trying to stick to the rules but something as big as this! No doubt there are fans of him in the house who deserve to know. Maybe bring them each individually into the diary and ask them not to discuss it with the other HM's.

To be honest, I think they should know. But whatever.

I don't see why they should be told TBH. It's not going to personally effect them.

Although, Séany in BB8 was a huge MJ fan and went to support him at his trials. If there was fan of MJ in the house, as big as Séany was then I could see why they may have told him.

But why not also tell them about Farrah - she is also a celeb that died - and then every time a celeb dies they will have to be told also - who say's whos the bigger celeb - each to their own really - I dont think they should be told. I'd love to see it but it will set off a chain of them finding out things.

I understand why they are not being told, but I would also understand if they were told. This is a big thing to happen, some people are very cool about the death but people have been so affected people. For some people it doesn't calculate in their heads that people can feel connected to celebrities.

Tbh though, Farrah was no where near on the same scale as MJ. Some of the HMs might not even know who she was. Plus we all knew she was suffering from cancer for a while so that news didnt come as such a shock, still sad news but no where near the MJ news.

I think its fair to say a few more people had heard of MJ than Farrah, I will admit I didn't know who she was until she died. MJ was a VERY famous man.

it shouldn't matter who the celeb is who has died or how famous they were that isn't the point the point is that the experience of going on to bb is you have NO contact with the outside world. tell them about mj were will they draw the line? wouldn't telling siavash about the troubles in his home country be me important than the death of a celeb? if they'd told them about mj i'd have switched off. may as well start giving them the gossip pages or daily newspapers lol

Because the whole idea of BB is 'No contact with the outside world'
Don't get me wrong, it's sad that he's dead but it's not an excuse to tell them what happened.
The few times it happened, it was for a valid reason like in BB 2 USA where a woman had one of her family members missing in the World Trade centre towers.

Well, very crudely put Larry , however it's something that did happen , but when famous people die they like to pretend they were whiter than whiter and seem to think we forget about the awful things they do!!!

I don't see why it's a problem. They go in there to be 'cut off' from reality and have their 'own' world int he house.

& anyways, there may be some Charlie's Angels fans in there, they haven't told them Farah Fawcett has died either have they!

Well said, glad it's not just me feels this way, I grew up watching Charlie's Angels and was very upset by Farrah's death, then he dies and overshadows her!!!
I know people loved him, although they will now pretend he was something other than just a singer and dancer, but tv stars of Farrahs talent and beauty are few and far between!!!

Do you know if the person was killed or survived? Don't know why I care, but I kinda wanna know.

Disgusting. How can they be denied this news? This is a breach of human rights.

This is final straw for me. I've had it with Channel 4 and the way they treat BB, and the housemates, like rubbish.

Won't be surprised then to see that the number of viewers will drop below 1 million this weekend.

Channel 4 wanted to kill off, BB, now they have. Bravo.

I was truly sorry to hear about Michael Jackson's death. He was a master of his art and he will be sadly missed. Having said that, it's not likely the housemates will be told and I'm not sure they should be. In 2005 following the London bombings, Big Brother decided not to tell the housemates about it. They set a precedent with that decision.

So you didn't mind when they didn't inform the house at the time of the London Bombings at the time?

But because they aren't telling them that Michael Jackson's passed away, it's the final straw?
