Cesc Fabregas is understood to have told Arsene Wenger he wants to leave Arsenal in order to rejoin Barcelona as president Joan Laporta hints at making a bid.
Writing in Spanish newspaper AS, Guillem Balague has revealed that Fabregas has flown in to London from Barcelona to discuss his future at Emirates Stadium with Wenger. Fabregas recently revealed that he does want to play for former club Barca one day and is keen for his future to be resolved before representing Spain at the World Cup finals. It now appears that the midfielder is ready to ask for permission to join the newly-crowned Primera Liga champions next season and a fee is likely to be in the region of £30-35million. Meanwhile, Barcelona president Laporta has suggested it may be the right time to bid for the 23-year-old following Fabregas' comments at a promotional event last week. The Arsenal captain, who was plucked from Barca's youth ranks in 2003, had said, 'I think I would like to go to Barcelona, whether or not they want me is another thing'. Laporta was surprised by Fabregas' frankness and reckons it is worth considering a move for the influential midfielder. "It is remarkable that the player has said that," he told the club's official website. "If the technical secretary [Txiki Begiristain] believes we must make an effort, we will do and will talk to Arsenal." Villa talks Laporta also confirmed transfer talks were well underway with Valencia over a deal to bring striker David Villa to Camp Nou. "We are in the negotiating process and everything is going in the right direction," Laporta added. "We hope it is resolved soon. Everything is on track and hopefully we can reach an agreement."

Barcelona have confirmed that they have made a formal offer to Arsenal for midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The Gunners captain, who signed from Barcelona as a 16-year-old in 2003, has made no secret of the fact that he wishes to return to Catalonia this summer. The Spanish international is keen to get his future resolved before Spain open their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on 16th June. Barcelona, who have already shelved out £34million for Valencia striker David Villa this summer, have warned that a deal is unlikely to be thrashed out quickly and it remains to be seen whether Arsenal deem their offer to be acceptable. "Everyone knows that Cesc wants to play for this club and everyone knows that we also want this," Barca director general Joan Oliver told the club's official website. "But there is a third major player, which is Arsenal. "Any deal must go through them and June 1 was the beginning of the period of official negotiations. "Until earlier there were informal conversations, but since yesterday these are formal - and the usual mechanism is to present a formal and concrete offer. "So yesterday afternoon, we submitted a written bid to Arsenal."

Our new home kit is wonderful
The blue is a nice touch. We've been wearing the same old red and white for so long that we needed something to spice it up a bit this season. + it looks great on the mighty OG

Arsenal have signed Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla from Malaga on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee believed to be below £15m.
The 27-year-old has joined the club at a pre-season training camp in Germany. Cazorla said: "I'm so excited to be joining one of the greatest teams in Europe and also in the Premier League." Boss Arsene Wenger, who is also working to sign Real Madrid's Nuri Sahin on loan, added: "He's a great signing who will add significant quality to us." The Frenchman continued: "He is a player with good experience at both club and international level. "He is a versatile, attacking midfield player who can play comfortably on either side of the pitch or centrally. He has good pace, is technically gifted and will be a huge asset to Arsenal Football Club. We are delighted that he is joining us." Cazorla spoke of his intention to help the Gunners end their trophy drought, which dates back to 2005. "I'm so happy to be joining Arsenal," he stated. "This is a club with great players, a fantastic stadium and huge support. "The club has one of the best managers in football and their style of play is recognised and admired all over the world. "I will do my best to help Arsenal challenge for trophies and make all the supporters happy." Meanwhile the Gunners hope to add Turkey international Sahin to a squad already boosted by the arrivals of Germany forward Lukas Podolski and France striker Olivier Giroud from Montpellier. Real Madrid signed Sahin from Borussia Dortmund on a six-year contract in May 2011, but the 23-year-old has struggled to establish himself at the Bernabeu and Real boss Jose Mourinho would let him leave on loan. Doubts remain over the future of captain Robin van Persie, who has said he will not extend his contract when it expires in 2013. But the Dutch striker is with the squad in Germany ahead of Sunday's friendly against Cologne, which was agreed as part of the Podolski transfer. The Cazorla and Sahin deals are unrelated to Van Persie, but were accelerated by news that Jack Wilshere will not play before October as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury. Cazorla, who joined Malaga from Villarreal last summer, stands at 5ft 6ins and featured for Spain at the 2008 and 2012 European Championships.
