Does Derek deserve 'a chance to win'?
Derek : acceptable, or not ? Derek - He is polite, well spoken, and highly intellectual - perhaps the most professional housemate ever to enter the BB house. Yet we have 2 major ethical issues... 1. He thinks it is okay to hunt little creatures for fun. 2. He was convicted of drink-driving in the US (in 1997 I believe) --- I suppose some may think fox hunting is fine. However, driving whilst drunk is perhaps one of the most contemptable offences any idiot can do. For that alone, I believe the guy deserves to forfeit his chance of winning. I would rather Science win, than someone who has decided that is it fine to drive around shortly after having been drinking. |

![]() we can not judge wether or not a housemate derserves to win based on what they do outside of the house, it is what they do in the next 10 weeks that counts, how much entertainment they provide, if they play the game and join in the tasks, and most of all how well they treat the other housemates. wether a housemate has been arrested for drink driving, likes to hunt (which i disagree with) should not be factors in whether they should win or not. Besides if Derek does not deserve to win because he has been arrested the niether do Maxwell or Science as they sat in the lounge the other evening boasting about how many times they had been arrested. ![]() |

No it doesn't matter because Derek does deserve a chance to win. The hunting and the drink-driving are two separate issues though.
The drunk-driving was a mistake - everyone makes mistakes. Other BB contestants have had criminal elements in their past, and as catcrazy said, Maxwell has already admitted he's been locked up for being drunk and disorderly. The hunting issue is different because it's a matter or whether people agree with it or not. If someone doesn't agree with fox-hunting etc. they may decide to vote Derek out. On the other hand, people didn't vote Cameron out because he was a Christian, or vote Nadia out because she was a transexual - they were accepted for who they were. |

Well number 1 doesn't count since he can't hunt any more.... it been banned..... and number 2 doesn't count because I assume his been banned and he has been punished for his crime.
In any case isn't what happen in the house that counts? I get a feeling he will have an important role in the house later in the show... but he won't win because of political views. However, if he does win the show maybe he should be selected as the next leader of the tory party, he wouldn't be any worse than any of the others the party have to chose from, and at least he would be a proven winner. |
