Default Yet again more disregard for housemates health and safety

Tonight's episode did annoy me with regards first to the nettles in the sack race.

It is not enough to have "Nettle cream", nettles cause something akin to a chemical burn. Channel 4 / Endemol are inflicting chemical burns on contestants.

A recent court case in France held that contestants on a reality tv show are employees. If we could translate that to here, then making someone handle a bio-hazard without adequate protection could be a breech of health and safety legislation.

The bricks on bare feet could have caused injury, and as for the cactus, a puncture of the skin could cause infection.

Again Health and safety issues.

The egg thing is a delicacy so I am not commenting about that

How long is Channel 4 / Endemol going to flout health and safety, put contestants in harms way for entertainment purposes.

How far are they going to go?
Russian Roulette?

Russian roulette is a stupid idea. Not on Health and Safety grounds, but that there are so few brains in the house to blow out.

I understand your reasoning, and yes it looked like it could cause them some harm, but seriously... it's people similar to yourself that are ruining the show by complaining all the time. I'd much rather see tasks similar to tonight's one than some Biscuit Dunking task that was shown on Week 1.

Besides, surely all tasks like this would have to be tested first to make sure they are safe for the housemates to take part in?

Yeah, nettle stings are a real worry. But I'm concerned about noxious gases. The close of tonight's HLs showed Dogface popping out a particularly poisonous fart that had Karly wrinkling her nose in obvious discomfort. These are harmful vapours, which no doubt the French government would have something to say about - probably something like "C'est une violation de droits de l'homme pour péter au visage de quelqu'un". I'm wondering if there should an area reserved for that, as there is for smoking. If there's a Bus Stop, there shoulld also be a Gas Stop, for anyone who likes to let their arse do the talking. Should I start a poll about this?

I am serious

And if others would like to check, I am NOT Mario from BB9.

I have found a way to send a complaint to Channel 4 and sent in this

Quote:
I refer to the "extreme sports task"

Being stung by a stinging nettle is akin to a chemical burn, and the sting can last for a week. One contestant seemed to still be suffering later in the evening. Do Channel Four not care about health and safety of the contestants.

In France they decided that reality tv contestants are employees. If that were the case here, you could not do this under health and safety at work legislation which is stringent about handling bio-hazards.

As for the cactus baton, what if a needle went into a hand and caused serious infection?

The skipping over the lego and the rolling on the plugs could also have caused injuries.

Could the people who devise the tasks please explain why they feel it is ok to disregard health and safety, as it appeared with this task.
I will let you know of any reply.
