Derek and Mary had a heated exchange this morning over little more than the shopping list. But what's really behind the tension between them?

Derek objected to Mary's control of the shopping, prompting Mary to snap, "You're not the ruler in this House, Derek."
...no, you can't handle the truth!
Derek told her, "I'm not going to fall out with you over the shopping," before doing precisely that. Showing his darker side, he shouted at Mary, "Have you asked what the consensus is? No!" Like he was grilling a defendant in court.

Clearly Derek is all for democracy in shopping.

"You're such a sly little man," spat Mary. "You're so *******ing immature."

"You're behaving like an absolute ass," retorted Derek. "I will not be spoken to like that in this House."

"You think you have control in this House, but I can see through you," said Mary, archly.

It can be a dark place, the shopping list.
