Default If you could bring one CD to the moon...

Just a simple twist on the Desert Island disc concept, both as a strange allusion to Michael Jackson, and because I like the theme of space over the whole desert theme.

The rules are simple, create one CD of ten tracks. Only one artist per disc. Give reasons if you like [or just post the ten tracks, no order needed]. Remember, we are assuming these ten tracks are all you will have, floating in space, for pretty much eternity, so put a bit of variation in their.

I will post mine in a jiffy.

Das Mond Kompaktplatte [Moondisc - Volume I]

I - B-52's - Loveshack - First thing I thought of while creating this thread. Theirs something about this gaudy, not so bangin' 90's tune and hopping around on the moon like a prat that appeals to me.

II - Kraftwerk - Autobahn - It's a great electronic progression that is both pedantic and incredible for it's time. Plus their are tactical reasons behind this. The track is over twenty minuets long!

III - N-Trance - Set You Free - Because every moon needs a drugged up rave. Grab yer' lunar glowsticks!

IV - Depeche Mode - Home - Well I had to pick one. Tough call, but it's their best track in my opinion, even though as the title would suggest, it is likely to make me utterly miserable on the moon.

V - The Cure - Just Like Heaven - It was either this or In Between Days. Both uplifting [yes, The Cure, uplifting] tracks but I am likely to get sick of this one a lot less quicker.

VI - Dave Gahan - Kingdom - Well it is a way of sneaking more Depecheness on to the list without breaking the rules . From Hourglass, one of the most underated works in years.

VII - Afroman - Because I Got High - See track I.

VIII - Pink Floyd - Us & Them - It's from an album called The Dark Side Of The Moon, and it's a damn fine track. Enough said.

IX - The Wonderstuff - Here Comes Everyone - Another uplifting number from an early 90's classic band who pretty much killed off their longevity and reputation by doing 'Dizzy' with Vic Reeves and that other little fella.

X - Sex Pistols - Holiday In The Sun - Moon needs a bit of punk energy! I wanted to put the closing theme from 'Red Dwarf' on but im not sure is that a full blown song.

Harder than I thought. Bands that almost made the cut : The Cult, HIM, The Ramones, The Smiths, Infected Mushroom, Black Sabbath & Rage Against The Machine.

Damn fine list from Iceman.

Never, ever gets boring. Quite thought provoking too whilst being dancey.

Another song that never gets boring. This song is flawless.
03. The Veronica's - Untouched
A song with strings, guitar and keyboard and shouty female lyrics is a must.

When I'm on the moon this will remind me of the gay clubbing days.

There has to be a power ballad in there somewhere and this is one of my faves. I heart this.
07. Beck - Nausea
Different to the rest, quite American and indie. Really great track which I love the bassline too. It's addictive.
08. Blondie - Atomic

Before doing mine, can I just ask - can it be vinyl instead of a cd? Vinyl will sound so much better up there and I want to appreciate the artwork whilst floating round! BTW check out my record label 'Attractive' and first band signed 'The Phone'. Three new singles out in August!
