Default Why Big Brother was wrong to put all housemates up this week

There are probably many reasons, but here are my thoughts on why Big Brother was wrong to put all housemates up for eviction this week:

1) It is too early on to really know who to vote out amongst such a dislikeable bunch. There's a split between wanting to vote out the boring people first (e.g. Vanessa, Anthony) or voting out the unpopular people first (e.g. Sam, Lesley).

2) If Vanessa tells the housemates that she has put them all up for nomination by her mistake, any other housemate can now think - "OK, I'll sabotage the nominations another week and break the rules myself."

3) Part of the interest in watching the highlights etc. is to see how the nominated people are doing and who's likely to be popular or not. Trying to watch everyone at this stage is just too much!!

4) This is the second week in a row that the traditional nominations format has been messed about with. Although this could be deliberate, to try and avoid interesting people getting evicted early on this year, it certainly didn't work with Mary!

5) This week's vote will be the most telling to the housemates about how everyone is being perceived in the outside world. Whoever goes this week is a pretty good indication of who the public is going to vote out next - perhaps we could see some housemates seriously changing their behaviours based on this!

This is the first night when I am really not bothered about watching the highlights show!

sam and derek would have already been up.

the punishment for vanessa should have seen her added onto them 2.

so the ones going up would have been derek, sam and vanessa.

vanessa would have went then...

but now lesley's in the mix, vanessa's in for another week

It was definately unfair what BB did, like you said Andy the punishment for Vanessa should have been awarded to her only which meant she would be up with Derek and Sam.

i think the punishment should of been given to Lesley aswell because she was kind of pushing Vanessa and well intimidating her

im not defending lesley here but..

its completely vanessa's fault, it came out of her clumsy mouth.

grr, you see her in the diary room voting yesterday, she made a right fool of herself. shes just a fake, especially with the lesley incident (snog).

I think the actual mistake is giving the public that many options this early in the game. Personally I'd use this as an opportunity to get Vanessa out. Not becuase she flapped her gums, but because she's boring me.

Sadly if the first eviction is anything to go by, it's the more interesting ones who are getting the push.

no way, if lesley gets the boot this week, the britney gang will confort vanessa ..as always.

and the others dont like lesley that much anyway, so theylle love vanessa.

vanessa is just plain in my opinion.

According to the edited show on C4 tonight Derek said if he was up for eviction he would walk out. Now that might have just been an empty threat, but had he'd lived to his words would that have mean't Sam would have survived by his exit? were BB scared of his threat and decided his and Sams survival rested on splitting the votes amongst the whole house? surely just stopping Vanessa from nominating next week and her nomination this week made void or even putting her up for eviction as punishment would have been a better option? No then we wouldn't get the chance to evict Lesley then would we

I don't think that BB have been fair by putting up everyone for eviction. I don't think though that other housemates will think that they might sabotage the voting system by talking about nominations - because if they do and everyone goes up again, they won't be very popular with the other housemates, and would almost certainly be nominated the following week.

I agree that people are torn between voting off Lesley or Sam (I'm convinced that it will be one of them who goes, and probably Lesley), or someone like Vanessa, who nobody would really miss - none of the viewers anyway.

I also wish that Big Brother would stop messing around with the nominations system. The old format was the best - the housemates with the most nominations face the public vote, although this week. A better punishment for Vanessa would be for her not to be allowed to nominate this week, or for her to be automatically put up for eviction as well.

Although I dislike Lesley very much, I don't think she should be punished for Vanessa breaking the rules - Vanessa said what she said about nominating Sam with no prompting from Lesley - and she didn't seem to realise that she had done anything wrong, even when Big Brother called her to the diary room to tell her!
